My 2010 520 Touring has been declared uneconomical to repair by my insurers and consequently written off. They have made what I feel is a rather low offer given the current state of the market and I'm wondering what my options are?
The engineer I spoke to said that they are tightly controlled by criteria laid out by the insurance ombudsman but the offer is 20-30% lower than similar age, spec and mileage cars.

They will always lowball you on the first offer. reject the offer with some examples of a similar car to yours at a higher price than offered.
