I have to pick up our 7 1\7 ton lorry from work today for the first time and have a quick question about the tacho.
When I'm doing the ten minute vehicle check before I leave, what symbol should the tacho be switched to? I'm thinking the 'available for other work' symbol but I could be wrong?
Also when I start driving, does the tacho automatically switch itself to 'work' mode?

Crossed hammers (work) for the vehicle check. Should change automatically when you start driving. Digital or analogue tachograph? Also are you using it for work or borrowing it for private use? Do you have a driver's CPC card?

It's for work use and is an analogue tacho.
Did my CPC before Christmas but this will be the first time I've driven it on my own.
Will be taking it very easy.

Haven't had to deal with analogue for many years now,so not sure on it auto switching to driving. Check in the yard before you leave.

My only advice for today - if you're not sure if you've got room, get out and look! Hope you have a great day driving it!
