Have got a heating programmer installed, but how do i know what value to put in for the proportional band? It can be 1.5, 2, 2.5 or 3 degrees.

Oil heating, 4 bed bungalow, 9 rads if that makes any difference.

I think (but am not a heating expert) that the lower the number, the tighter it will control the heating. It will be part of some kind of pid control I reckon.

A higher number & it will probably overshoot but warm up quicker, whereas a lower number will reduce any overshoot but will probably throttle back the heating sooner so it will take longer to get to temp...

Probably controls how rapidly the boiler can cycle on and off. Lower number = more cycles.

Set to highest value for an oil boiler IIRC.
