MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I have an infra red sauna which takes 240v300w ceramic rods, two of these have stopped working and I am having a devils job getting replacements. I have however managed to get one which looks exactly the same as the originals but the wattage is 400w not 300w. Is it safe to attached this or will it draw too much load and likely fry something else driving it or the wires etc?
Thanks in advance.
Steve
Assuming you're replacing 2 of them you're pushing the power through up by 20%, that's fairly small in electrical terms so probably not an issue, but in heat terms it depends entirely on what the surroundings are like and how close they are etc. I'd be happy to do it myself and keep a very close eye on it, I'm not sure I'd be happy to recommend you do it as I've no idea how careful you are or capable of checking it over (being a random forum poster, not a close friend). My advice would be find the correct rods, or if you're going to take the dangerous route monitor it for a significant amount of time to begin with so you're not trapped in a burning wooden box.
