I have never taken antibiotics, took some yesterday roughly as prescribed and now I have the sh**ts. Is this the norm, as I'm thinking of stopping taking them. Still saved myself some money. 😳
i gues it depends how strong the antibiotic is and how much affect it has on 'friendly' bacteria in the gut. All antibiotics kill good bacteria as well as bad.
I found the exact opposite last week. although I was also taking shed loads of paracemtamol, ibruprovin and co co-codomol...
Certain antibiotics do screw up your guts, yes, and can be pretty unpleasant. If you really can't cope with the discomfort for a week, then go back to your GP and see if there's an alternative you can get instead.
I've been on plenty of different types recently and some are worse than others.
I have the same problem, taking some for a chest infection and now spending half the day sat on the loo.
what you on, Tails ?
Some do and some don't. Its just a common side effect. do not stop taking them but go back to your GP if you can't cope with the sh1ts
I thought they generally dried you out and could make you constipated.
Flucloxacillin is the name, well I'm possibly thinking the shits are worse than the problem they are for.
Essentially i don't wanna get caught short and crap myself 😆
Flucloxacillin does that to me too. And makes it smell funny.
Flucloxacillin
If its the ones I'm thinking of then yes, they are the worst that I've had!
I might sack them off, don't fancy having my weekend ruined.
make sure you take it on an empty stomach - more gets absorbed, less goes to your colon
To avoid the shits when taking antibiotics, take a probiotic too. Works for me!
