Been off the bike for 10 months – which has been torturous, waiting for a shoulder op. After 4 dislocations I needed the above procedure that I underwent on Tuesday – now convalescing at home.

Anyone had the same op – any rehab/physio tips or general experiences to share?

Cheers.

most importantly post op is reducing inflammation and swelling. This aids movement and consequently reduces muscle atrophy and strength loss.
Ice is the best way to do this.
Look for Aircast cryo shoulder cuff and Aircast cooler and tube assembly.

Follow the advice of your consultant/registrar and Physio. As above you'll be wanting to mobilise as soon as possible, but the Laterjet procedure involves creating some new bone in your shoulder which needs to achieve union so you don't want to overload it. You will have been told what you can and can't do, follow that advice! Also, be aware of timeframes- you hear a stories of patients who haven't used a joint for years because 'my doctor told me not to'- when that doctor only said don't use it for two weeks. It's easy to miss information because you get told so much at a hospital- never be afraid to ask again for clarification!! 🙂
