Was Looking at TRX straps but I'm not spending that much on a couple of straps. Has anybody found any good alternatives?

Loads of alternatives, do a search for suspension trainer on the bay, gym rings are good as well but you can't do quite so much with them.

some look kind of cheap - I haven't yet seen any that look like they are reasonably substantial.

Search for taper shaper - the straps are elsewhere on the site

Surely some luggage straps should do the job, no ?.

Been using a set of gymnast rings for a while now instead of the TRX strap; they're slightly more versatile (as the whole is solid) and have a similar extension function.

I bought these which are doing great; although if your bashing out levers and what not in the middle of the woods people tend to look at you strangely.
