MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
Inspired by a comment on another thread i thought i'd ask if anyone was spending Xmas Day alone - for wahtever reason.
Perhaps we could bring some folk together for a wee drink if nothing else?
M y missus is working xmas morning til 2pm so i'll be mostly going for a walk up snowdon (or a ride elsewhere maybe)
I am equally in the sad bastid club.
It's strange to have christmas off work, actuaally.. but I have a whole week of free time to do things while other people are 'too busy' as I see it. 😛
Aye....thank the little babby jezus 😀
I used to love being on my own over Christmas and new year
Up early biking or walking. Whilst everyone else is nursing a hangover
If anyone's in North Manchester and feeling a bit fed up, you're more than welcome to pop in for a bite, a glass of something awful and a mince pie.
You might even get a der-der and a funny hat. 🙂
Alone and perfectly content; have been so for the last ten years. I always enjoy the 25th December, unless I don't.
By choice i'll be mostly alone.
Just not wanting to be a part of someone else get together, plenty of offers but i'll not wish to intrude or suffer the day that way.
I'll be up on the hills, no doubt wild camping from the previous night, nice fire, drink and if anyone else fancies it, good company away from the norm.
Long ole walk during the day, perhaps a lunch time drink in a local pub.
Will see Deer and listen to the birds in the cool fresh air.
Several thousand trees adorned with natural trimmings, below them treasures in the form of ssshhroooms, nuts and new beginnings.
Hey RS, are we going for a spin out again at some point?
sharki, that just sounds like a wonderful day 🙂

Sounds good Sharki.
A few years back a mate and I used to go up to Scotland or the Lakes for some hillwalking or scrambling over Christmas, and we'd have some great days out on the empty hills and then a nice pub in the evening- excellent.
This year I'll be at the in-laws probably watching $hite Christmas specials on TV 🙁
Whenever you like Simon, was nice to meet you.
You signed up for HtN?
I think you'd enjoy it.
Can give you a lift down if you need one.
Sharki, can we have some more photos please?
And a link to your blog, if you have one, ta!
Yes, by choice. I'll be out in the woods, with bike, with dog or with both. There'll probably also be some wine, chocolate and dvds in bed, also with dog. Perfect.
Rusty, The only blogg i was writing was about my walk along the SWCP, but i've not found writing easy so haven't continued with it for months now(it will get finished)
The other one took a back seat when i began writing the SWCP walk Blook.
More recent musings and wild experiences don't seem to get shared elsewhere other than friends who care to listen or pretend to.
Right now i'm unsure what to share as the last few rambling threads i've posted here have gone unseen, so i sulked and deleted them.
Quite simply, this here is the wild highlight of the year, and happens to be the only recorded sighting of such a Butterfly in the UK this year, therefore much smugness here.

Managed this yesterday whilst out and about. One of those days really. Just got on the next bus that came along, jumped off where i felt like and walked into the nearest woods and aimed for the next town to the North.

This Autumn i managed to jump back on the coast path in Dorset and found a wee furry friend. Nothing Pale about this moth larvae despite it's adult form being a pale tussock moth.

And as ever i've been getting exited about fungi and moulds.

So many diddy adventures, so many photos, but can't seem to put it all into words, therefore FB hates me, chewing up all that bandwidth. lol

Unseen?
sharki, found a cd-rom of yours at ours with some pics from c.2010.
i'll make sure it doesn't get buried again.
Well TJ, that's he way i see it being an attention whore that i am.
No comments appear as unseen. 🙁
TM, It's a few of the coast path images from a corrupt card i had(i think, so might be aload of rubbish. The 200 odd pics i lost might well be lurking deep with your hard drive as that's when the card borked itself, losing me 12 days of images. 🙁
I spent last year here:

See those hills in the background, yup...them there..I spent all day hacking around them on my roadie, then settled back in my Appt for the evening with an amazing bottle of Red and some super scrummy food..
You just have to make the best of what you have and enjoy it whilst you have it..
And you don't have to go out of the front door neither, solace is an important allay..
You're never really alone.
Don't you only get 15 mins to delete them? Not long to see if anyone notices
I think a lot of posts like yours attract a lot of views but little comment - one can only say "nice" "wow" etc so many times.
email me when yo post the next one and I will start an irrelevant fight on your threads if you want 🙂
To go back to "alone on Christmas day" make to most of it. Enjoy the piece and quiet.
😆
My best ever christmas was one that i spent alone. Left the house at 2am and climbed a munro in the darkness to get there for sunrise.
See... now that sounds like an amazing day..
Whose Munro??
Nice one Sharki.
Your photos and written contributions are really appreciated.
Have a great Christmas and New Year, love, light & peace to you and yours.
If i'm lucky I might be in derriford hospital with my boy, if not I'll still be in bristol hospital with my boy
I have my kids alternate Xmas holidays - so for Xmas day I try and do something memorable
2005 - worked, then out for a ride
2007 - camping in N wales, Rode snowdon on Xmas day, packed xmas lunch at the top
2009 - MTB 'ing in S wales - Cwm carn on xmas day, Xmas packed lunch in the snow at the top, didn't see another person
This year, not sure yet...
What's happened Jam Bo?
Not alone for Christmas here (in fact, my first ever away from my parents which feels a bit weird) but we will be seeing the new year in on a plane....
I will be 12 hours at my work in a control room by myself.

The boy wasn't supposed to be here until next year...
Yes, up here in the wilds of Wales
Will be with my dog, heading for a day in the mountains and gazing out to sea.
I'm not anti-social, but would prefer to spend the day being happy on my own in the hills, than unhappy with family or trying to fit in with being an 'addition' to friend's families.
Sharki - sounds like we have the same idea 🙂 Would happily join you, but you're a wee way from Wales!
Karinofnine, buttercup etc - Will raise a glass of something warming in your direction.
Oooh that's rough Jam bo - but to give you some good news, i was 3 months prem, my friends kids were both in gestation for a total of 9.5 months between them and they are great and healthy kids!
Zulu-eleven, I have the same deal....VERY inspired by your child free chrimbo antics! 😀
I will be 12 hours at my work in a control room by myself.
Fenred - go for it - really keeps you sane, and if you do get a little bit morose, then its a lot better to shed a few tears on your own somewhere up a hill, than sitting in the house feeling like shite 😕
Sharki, I have always wanted to explore the 'moors.
If the invitation is open, I'd be inclined to take it. 😛
Sue, Party Hardy!
I'm touched by Zulu's emotional side. 😉
