I’ve got tickets to the Electric Callboy gig at Ally Pally next week. What’s the best way to get there there from Worcestershire?

I was literally there last night for Turnstile.

Getting in and out of London is a Pain. I drove and parked at Potters Bar trains station (£3.60 for the eve, no height restriction so good for vans) and it was 14 minute train journey to Ally Pally train station which is much faster than driving and avoids ULEZ etc.

Loads of trains heading North after the gig, only had to wait 5 mins on the platform.

YMMV but it worked well last night. left the gig at 22:50 and was home in St Albans before midnight.

Quite annoyed I didn't get my butt in gear and get a ticket for EC in time, prod me on here if one if your group drops out and you need a home for their ticket.

My old home turf, was gonna recommend the train as Hatter said - you can also park and ride from the Hertford North line if need be.

Pub opposite the station is decent if you need a pint beforehand.

Oh, and since TFL have just debited my card, the train from Potters Bar to Ally Pally last night was £9.10 return.

I got mine on Tixel today. I only registered this morning! They have an auto-purchase option which did all the hard work for me.

Thanks folks. Park and ride seems like the best option. 👍

Was blissfully unaware of EC till today, they seem fun!

Ally Pally, train and walk up or park in the park and walk there (did this a few years ago for Alexisonfire), the drive out was remarkably easy really. I did realise that I hate the venue though, it doesn't work anywhere near as well as Brixton.

They are, I can't wait to see how many people have managed to make the costumes from the latest video.

I.go past there every day going to work. There are 2 lines run into AP. There's the line that goes to Welwyn Garden City and runs through Potters Bar as mentioned earlier. There's also the Hertford North / Stevenage line. If you come around the M25 and off at junction 24 there's Potters Bar parking or head down the Ridgeway into Enfield Chase and pick up the train there. You'll find street parking within 5-10 mins walk. You don't need permits around here. It's only a few stops.

I didn’t realise Ally Pally was still being used! Pretty sure I’ve only ever been to one gig there, and it was Arcade Fire, at their magnificent best!
They were playing an Echo and the Bunnymen song when I took this photo…

I also saw Arcade Fire at Ally Pally!  It was the Neon Bible tour, so around 2007 or 2008.  (How the mighty have fallen!  I wouldn't see them nowadays...)

When I went to see The National there in 2023, I got the Tube to Wood Green and then there was a shuttle bus running up the hill to the Palace.  It would be worth checking if it is running for your gig.

They used to run the yearly cycling show there for years. It's a nice place to go if you're in London for any reason.

Just had a text from an old mate saying that one of their lot may have a spare ticket for EC tomorrow.... destiny calls!

I have seen one gig at Ally Pally - the sound quality was terrbible as it just reverberated everywhere.

It also annoyed me that until the doors opened there was only the pub & pizza place open (pizzas were OK, nowt special) & when the doors opened there were a ton of street food vendors inside. They must've lost a ton of money by people grabbing a pre gig pizza & not knowing they existed until 7.30pm in the evening.

It also seemed like the nearest station was quite the hike.

Agree that its not my fave venue but if the band is good enough you stop caring, Turnstile certainly ticked that box last week and Im hoping EC blow the bloody doors off tonight in a similar manner.

Saw LCD Soundsystem there. Way too big a venue for me (my mate paid). But we got near the front and it was ok. Apart from people coming and going like the dancefloor was a busy shopping mall. Find a place and stay there you knobs!

I've never been to a gig inside Ally Pally, but the outdoor set-up they have in summer is fantastic. The sloping ground works really well as a nature amphitheatre. I saw the Suede/Manics co-headline tour there last summer and it was a brilliant place to spend a summer evening.

EC were fantastic last night! Bury Tomorrow were shite but at least it gave me a chance to brave the queue at the merch store.

Thanks for the travel advice.  We parked at Potters Bar as suggested and took the train. Dead easy.

Thanks also for the inside food information. We had duck wraps that were delicious.

Oh yeah, as a venue Ally Pally is not best suited for short arses like me and the mrs. It really needs some sort of higher standing areas round the outside.

Also, as Slipknot so eloquently said, (some) people=shit. If you turn up after the band has started elbowing your way forward isn’t going to make you any friends.

Another thing is making sure you aren't catching the last train of the night. Event staff have a habit of closing the steps down to the station and making you walk across the road bridge and then coming back along the road. (TBF the steps are narrow and steep and not suited to a big crowd in a rush). Uber drivers get rich off the back of this, ask me how I know!

Why would you Uber from the venue to the station? That's just lazy, and I say that as a eBiker...
