I've been watching Al Jazeera UK news. I've seen in-depth reporting of: politics in the Central African Republic, interviews with insurgent Islamist commanders on the ground in Syria, interviews with Australian volunteer fire-fighters, pollution problems in Peking and Iranian election politics.
Meanwhile, the BBC are showing that thing about "how to drive in the snow" that's been on every half hour in rotation and Sky are wittering on about some football club.
I like it as well, emphasis seems to be on content, they get interesting interviewees, they pick up on a wide number of stories that bbc seem to ignore
I think it's always a good idea to switch channels from the UK providers sometimes to get a different angle. France 24 is often quite good too. TBH, I only watch SKY if there's a car-crash type story going on and I want unsubstantiated rumour, innuendo and gossip...it's great for that kind of thing. 😀
Likewise, it wasn't until i happened to catch some BBC news i realised the big difference. A total absence of celebrity news. Just serious news, often about places where they don't speak english.
often about please where they don't speak english.
😀 😉
It you want another perspective again, try Russia Today... I would call it "alternative"...
@Whoppit... Hey Alanis, see that there?
I only know RT from youtube fame, and so never persued it further.

Isn't it iconic, don't you think?
I get Al Jaz news feeds on Flipboard, and I'm consistently impressed with the depth and quality of their reporting. Very refreshing.
Why "surprisingly"?
