[Closed] Adverts/malware on android

Yup. Me too.

Phone vibrates and it tells me I need to scan and download this and that. Happened the last week or so on here. Cleared my browser, reinstalled chrome etc. Still happens

I do get exactly what you describe on some other sites though. Annoying!

A scan always shoes nothing harmful on the phone though...

Always keep at least two tabs open in Android Chrome. You can then get to the tabs menu and close the STW one down and re-open a new one.
Been getting a fake Facebook one for the last couple of weeks.

The fake Facebook one is pretty well done. Almost fell for it, then had a word with myself.

I just had a bullshit "You've won a new phone click here" ad take over the tab - Chrome on a PC.

And yes Cougar, I know you've got a standing thread somewhere where you want all these reports, but I don't remember what it's called, feel free to delete or move this post as you wish.

Been getting the Facebook Survey, Malware alerts and betting site redirects for over a year now on my phone. It crashes the phone occasionally (Samsung S5) and it really,really sucks up data too. Haven't had one for a few days though, it's the EE ad that's slowing the phone down at the moment and it makes the screen slow to respond when it's in view as in it takes about 30 seconds to scroll past it!

Never had the porn redirects though. Must be my browsing history saying I'm not interested as all I get on ads is EE (who I'm with anyway) and Kwik Fit/BlackCircles etc.

I've not experienced this on my phone. I have "data saver" mode enabled in Chrome, along with pop ups blocked. I still get adverts, but nothing intrusive. Apparently google are releasing an ad blocker in a couple of months.

This was the latest I had a few days ago. Thanks for the reminder to post it. Like the OP I couldn't find the original thread.

It's a right faff but kind of glad it's not just my phone.

That sasake one is the worst.

I use 'another' browser just for this forum.... no issues thankfully on my OnePlus.
