I'm trying to experiment with a rig (for camera equipment) without spending a fortune on fabrication (this will come afterwords). The device is relatively simple, but needs some messing with because of balance issues when changing lens etc.
Does anyone make or sell pre drilled kind of meccano sets for adults to play with for this sort of application?

This stuff is the definition of adult meccano but its not cheap... and maybe even the most slender sections are too heavy for your application?
Why not just use kids meccano?
Either that or buy some mild steel flat bar and a drill press?
look in old scrap yards for dexion. its drilled metal with shelving but it'd be perfect for what you want.
