+1 for whoever said Ricky Gervais. Seems like a good bloke IRL from what I can tell, but whenever he's onscreen I rue the day Nori went out of business.
Harrison Ford ever since I noticed how he always casts himself with much younger female leads,
Do actors do their own casting now?
Sorry, Gervais fails the "irrational" test.
Not surprising, considering his whole schtick is being borderline obnoxious.
Though he did it very well in After Life.
Simon Pegg. Horrendous comedian with a very punchable face.
Harrison Ford ever since I noticed how he always casts himself with much younger female leads, dirty bastard.
That's a Hollywood/society problem. Men can age and have gravitas and presence, women are only there to be pretty so once they're old that's it.
It's been changing in recent years though - more mature female love interests than there used to be.
Jim Carrey is redeemed by The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Also Man in the Moon, it's a good film.
Seth Rogen
He's not the best at being funny, IMO he's good though. Knocked Up, whilst appearing to be a stupid comedy is actually a pretty thoughtful film and he plays the role really well.
Hugh Grant has been much better playing villains in recent years, rather than his classic posh fop routine.
Fantastic turn in The Gentlemen recently.
And Paddington 2.
Lordy, where do you start.
Another for Nicholas cage.
Kevin Costner. His accent never changes.
The guy who plays poirot on the beeb. Always called him 'kipper arse', because he walks like he's trying to hold a kipper up his arse! Sorry.
Martin Jarvis
There are a load more but I try hard to remove them from my limited consciousness
om Hanks. Can’t watch anything with him in it. Just about manage Private Ryan and the Toy things, but thats it.
It’s not that I find him unwatchable, just that he’s exactly the bloody same in every film.
Thing with Tom Hanks is that he's consistently mediocre. Not terrible, but just never more than passable. Whenever you see his name on a billboard, you know the movie is going to be some lame shit.
Most of the other actors listed above have done some excellent work. Jim Carrey was actually quite decent in Eternal Sunshine and The Truman Show, regardless of how awful most of his other stuff is. De Niro and Pachino might be sad shadows of their younger selves, but their early work included some truly great movies. Tom Hanks will always be lame though.
Edit. And Nicolas Cage is the opposite of Tom Hanks. He's either brilliant, or unbelievably awful. Never anything in between.
Fantastic turn in The Gentlemen recently.
And the Very English Scandal series. Generally improving with age, perhaps can now simply take whatever parts he wants? Although on the basis of only early work, mostly it would be a rational dislike.
Shia lebouf(meant to be good actor I think)!Properly annoys me and I know he's been in some s..t stuff but it's him generally that bugs me,I think Constantine is the only film I've managed to watch with him in.That film starred the great Keanu.
Constantine
Watched it last night, by chance.
Still, it does have Take 5 in the soundtrack.
Though he did it very well in After Life.
This is the thing. He's great in that and indeed his behaviour out of the entertainment industry is a pretty bloody good.
I like him, i think his "character" he plays ALOT is pretty cringey but thats one side.
Knocked Up, whilst appearing to be a stupid comedy is actually a pretty thoughtful film and he plays the role really well
Comedy? Yeah right, forgot to add that to the worst films thread. Unfunny pile of shite.
But then I had to let Rogen off, cos he's a Producer of The Boys.
I know what you mean about Rogen, he can grate badly, but he can be pretty good too sometimes.
Enjoyed Long Shot, unusual rom-com with Charlize Theron.
Carol Vorderman, yes limited acting but every time I see her I want to put my hobnails through the telly.
Loathesome plastic faced human being.... aaaaaaaannndd breathe......,.
Pam St Clement
Steve Coogan
A third or 4th rate 'actor'.
Funny thing is the local TV stations always want to brown-nose him!!
Can stand the bloke. Just too full of himself.
Brendan Fraser. I just don't like his face.
Shia LaBeouf or is that too mainstream?
Oh and Warwick Davis.
Bill Nighy
Christopher Walken
Don’t know why. Just find them both pretty intolerable on screen. Walken’s only redeemable feat was his appearance in the Fat Boy Slim Weapon of Choice video.
Cruise is an A* **** too
Eddie Redmayne.
Jim Carrey.
How can he watch himself and not be toe-curlingly embarrassed?
Ryan Gosling, clearly went to the Joey Tribiani school of acting "stare out of shot and smell your own fart"
Jason Statham - apart from LS&2SB and Snatch I find anything he's in almost unwatchable, the accent + poor acting does my head in
Jason Statham
He's not really an actor. Being a **** doesn't count as acting.
Agree on the Keanu Reeves thing. More actors should take a leaf from his book. The man is great.
I watched Dangerous Liaisons the other night, with some epic acting from the whole cast until Keanu Reeves turns up in his normal vacant way. Not an irrational dislike for me - he simply cannot act.
I know he's been mentioned but I'll mention him again Will Ferrell and Ian McKellen I find the pair of them really obnoxious.
William Shatner. Just No!!
Benedict Cumberland bloke
Dr Strange, Star Trek films...No!!!!
E McGregor
Funny - I seem have the opposite problem with Nicolas Cage - I irrationally like him in everything, which is probably why he can get away with his acting lol
I would say Marky Mark Wahlberg as he's unwatchable in anything, but I think that's shared by enough people to be perfectly rational. Although he has inexplicably been nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe, so maybe worth a mention after all.
Val Kilmer.

That face wants a slap.
Adam Sandler obvs.
Clive Owen
Ewan Macgregor
Robert Downey Jr
Patrick Stewart
Eddie Redmayne
Dexter Fletcher
Dawn French
