Google Maps says that the junction between the M18 and A1(M) is closed northbound until December. Anyone used it recently? Is there really no access to the A1 from the M18?

Wish I'd paid more attention on the drive south last week. 🙁

According to the Highways Agency excellent website, where you have to download an Excel file to view closures, it is closed, but only from 2100-0600.

It's an Excel 95 file though, so quite possibly full details are missing.

Yes it's been like that for a while.
Although you can still get on if you are heading East bound on the M18, the exit is still accessible or was the last time I used it about 3 weeks ago, but if you are heading west bound on M18 you can't get off the roundabout onto the A1(M) North slip.

Certainly wasn't the case earlier this week Alan, the entry to the a1 was completly closed that said the diversion round the 6182 isn't much of a hardship.

Ah, well that has changed since I last went that way. I will note for future reference, although it is easy enough to skirt through the edge of Donny to get back on the A1.

As a service to STW and absolutely nothing to do with me completely forgetting about it on the drive home, I ventured down the M18 today. The junction is both open and closed - open for traffic from the M18 onto the A1 (via the filter), and closed to traffic from the roundabout.

Wouldn't have killed the Highways Agency to write this on their website, but hopefully useful to anyone trekking around this way in future because it'll be closed until the end of the year.
