So, My nice shiney new 6ch CP electric chopper arrived this week and I've already mastered hovering and basic small moving around in the garden (even in this blustery wind). So far, so good and no crashes. Yet. Obviously a lot more learning to do and need to move on to circuits, figure of 8's, nose in stuff, etc

Anyway, this 3d flying lark. I'm nowhere close to attempting anything yet and haven't dared touch that scary 'full beans' switch, but I have a simple question. How do you do a loop or otherwise invert?

Ta

I got a Walkera V400D02 from www.miracle-mart.com

Quite like the look of this too. No idea where I'd keep it though!

a traditional loop requires a lot of height and a lot of forward speed, then pull back on the cyclic as you would on the stick on a fixed wing - I think

'flipping' to inverted is a different thing altogether

try here: http://mm.tisipi.de/index.php?L=1

Get yourself a sim, will let you see how things work - though as john says, a loop is simply a case of starting with lots of speed and pulling back on the right stick (if you have idle up engaged, then using "down" thrust by pulling the left stick back when inverted helps maintain altitude).

Though don't even dream of trying anything like this until you've got all the basic upright stuff sorted and practiced it lots on a sim.

i think they're a bit geeky unless you stick a go pro on it and fly it over nudist beaches or other areas with large gatherings of scantily clad girls.

oh, and for making sport vids.... thinking snowboard and bike

There's also a word for that, and it's not "geeky".

You grubby little perv. 😯

But I spose if you don't have the confidence to walk along a nudist beach yourself, or be able to approach scantily clad girls, then I guess you have to get yer kicks somehow. 😉

i learnt on this
http://www.heliguy.com/nexus/fms.html
with a cheapo' Playstation controller from PC world.

I built up to it with a few stall turns. a loop is easy, a good loop is difficult.

I've hooked up my Dx7i to my PC via a USB dongle and use RealFlightSim to practice hovering and had a go at 3D flying, which usually meant a crash.

But a flight sim using your real controller is the thing to practice with, saves a lot of rebuilding and money!
