Got plenty of wood, enough to last us the rest of winter hopefully. I have enough seasoned wood for the next two or three years but we're running short this year,

However, I've also got plenty of 2 year old great big lumps of wood that resists all attempts to reduce in size. These seem to be sections of the tree where branches meet the trunk. Head sized lumps mostly. It's all been sitting outside in a covered area. I have tried to split it up with a big maul and log bombs, a friend has even bought his (admittedly, a bit weedy) chainsaw round which just skipped around on top of the lumps.

Sod it, I'll just burn them. So i chuck the first lump in tonight. The burner has been going since half seven with the lump in.

It just looks a bit charred so far. It's glowed a bit at times and has lit up a couple of times but mainly, it's resisting all attempts to get it going. Sounds familiar? Tips? I can only fill half the burner at the moment and I've kept the other side fired all evening.

I've packed some hardwood around it now. That got burning and now it looks like it's getting going. The odd flame, a bit of a glow.
