I'm going to be staying in San Sebastian on the Friday night at the start of an upcoming MTB holiday.
Rolling in about tea time and staying near the main bus station.
Besides the obvious lashings of coke and hookers, does anyone have any recommendations for my evening amusement? Never been before, so at the very least, I'll head out to grab some food and have a gawp around.

Or if you’ve not won the lottery recently, you can’t really go wrong just wandering round the old town and popping into whichever bar takes your fancy for a little drink and food. Get small drinks and 1 plate and you can manage quite a few. Would also recommend coffee at Simona if you’re there in the day.

There's a pretty good pizza restaurant just next door to the Bus Station @43.3170749,-1.9764447,19z/data=!3m2!4b1!5s0xd51a55982d8d933:0x2b43d5e43581e392!4m6!3m5!1s0xd51a5597f0c0555:0x85edb8a1d618616e!8m2!3d43.3170749!4d-1.9757996!16s%2Fg%2F11c1xfz7ps?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDgzMC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here Pizza by the slice and decent beer. Or like 007 says, wander down to the harbour-side, and choose any of the v expensive (but very good) restaurants that service the yachting crowd.
Walk up to the Urgulleko Polboriña bar to watch the sunset over the bay.
Cheesecake at La Vina after Pintxos at Txakolina.
As said, wander around the old town and soak it all in, one Pintxo at a time.

If you're in San Sebastian for one night then spending it sitting in one restaurant is the worst advice ever.
Pintxos all the way. Just do some Googling or YouTube-ing on what are the go to places at the mo. Or ask Doug for recommendations. I presume there are local tour guides who will take you round the top spots, I wouldn't normally recommend that, but as you on your own it might be a nice way to do it.
As Timmy's says
Pintxos is your go to. Don't believe the hype about all of the eateries being world class - it's surprisingly easy to get average food there. Some of the less hyped places are truly stunning though. But you will struggle to get into those. So, Pintxos and move from place to place.

Not a lottery winner, but was incredible when we went in March (was a 40th birthday present)
wander round the old town, check out all the pintxos/tapas bars, that’s what we did most evenings and didn’t find one that wasn’t brilliant.
+1 for La Vina.
SSua Arde Jatetxea Donostia. Friendly, great food and does allow walk ins if not busy.
Akalarre ;). Need that lottery win but properly stunning. Seriously though, Pinxtos. I found the two restaurants near the big church at the East end of the old town to be the best. I can't remember either of their names though. I do remember the one on the West side of the street being so busy we were glad we booked a table and we could observe the chaos. The one on the East side of the street was more of a restaurant and had better food but not as good chaos people watching.
The food there is fantastic. Eat pintxos. Go to the next bar. Eat more pintxos. Etc.
