As a detectorist (yes, really) this interests me as we have a long history of customising and subverting the meaning of coins over the centuries.
Counter stamping, vandalism, hole punching and many other more inventive methods of subverting a coins intention.
I guarantee that I'm not the first to think of this.lol
I'll be looking at these Brexit coins with disdain.....and interest when they appear.
The need a load more of them I suppose as that’s what most of us will be valuing our houses at...
Just to ensure the full pointlessness and futility I trust that the lowest bid will come from a Mint in somewhere like, say, France.

If I have the misfortune of receiving one then my intention all along was to permanently deface the reverse so that it shows the 12 stars of the EU flag, and return it in to circulation. Or tell the shop staff politely that I do not accept it and to give me a proper coin.
If it was a commemorative coin you could pay £10 for it then take it to the beaurau de change and get 40 euro cents for it. What a great exchange rate.

Everyone knows we're going to be using wheelbarrows full of £50 notes by the end of August so no one is ever actually going to see one of these.
If any grown ups get given any of these coins in change, surely the best (and most amusing) thing would be to immediately donate it to the Greens or LibDems or the campaign to rejoin should this nonsense go ahead.
It should replace the 20p coin, and be similarly sized. Probably worth scrapping the 1p & 2p coins while we’re at it. If we’re devaluing for Britain, we might as well prepare for it properly.
Can't they just give stuffed toy unicorns and rainbows to all children born in the first year after a date if/when we officially leave an EU that makes far more economic sense for far more of the UK population?
Why on earth would they think that commemorating something 50% of the population are dead against is a good idea. Are they genuinely that out of touch? Or are they in denial? I suspect it is that they honestly do not give a crap about what 50% of the population think.
It's a damming indictment of the opposition when they know they can rub this kind of crap on the face of half the electorate and still probably get elected.
They should replace the 50p coin with 52p & 48p coins.

Err it will cost the taxpayer as the Royal Mint Ltd is 100% owned by the treasury.
