Mrs Gastro and I have 48 hours in Madrid over a weekend in November. I'm asking the usual questions.

must see / do?

where to stay?

hidden gems?

what to avoid / warnings?

thanks in advance for the tips and hints.

Prado. That should keep you occupied for most of the 48 hours. It's just amazing.

There used to be a great cafe in the basement, I don't know if it's still there though.

Picasso's Guernica should be in your top 3 things to see there

Bus tour with a stop at the bernerbau. I'm not joking.

Like a perusal around La Latina on a Sunday morning, flea markets, food etc a bit Notting Hill before it got too regenerated.

Disclaimer, its been about 12 years since I was last there.
