This is probably a silly question, but how busy is the area going to be on the day of the race? I was looking at walking the 3 Peaks with my dear old dad, but it seems to me like that might be a fairly bad idea...

You can find the route and approx times on it. To be fair, it's going to be pretty busy at times.

I'd pick another day unless dodging bikes is your thing.

Though having said that if you go up PyG first and earlyish, you'll probably only encounter some stragglers descending Whernside.

Much ob the cycle race route is not on the normal walking route. The bits that are though I bet you could have a right laugh with a walking pole and all those spokes......

May go to plan b then... I've done it once this year already (sans poles, I hasten to add!)

Maybe a nice amble round Edale...
