Quarters was the aim. Job done, I would REALLY like to think we can't play that badly again...But I know we can.

Australia will destroy Scotland

Or Wales.

For now, anyway. Not for much longer.....

Congratulations to Scotlamd, quite a match. Bit sad not to be seeing Japan next weekend but fair play to Scotland.

Hoping for a cracker of a match at Twickenham. News the time for Wales to break that losing streak.

Australia walk a scrum around, get a penalty...

Yep. That was a poor call.

Australia are masters of making the opposition scrum take the blame. Last week Marler was pushing straight, but the Aussie TH was stepping in every time, making Marler hinge unintentionally.

Driving straight upwards and walking/wheeling. Not a penalty against Wales, that's for sure.

Just did it again - Oz loose head angling in and up. Penalty Australia. Well done ref. ๐Ÿ™„

WTF is BOD wearing!

Open shirt without a tie. Undo your top button!

Then again, a black shirt? Nasty.

Yes he was. Watch that game again concentrating on that particular side of the scrum. Every time, the Aus TH took a step in and drove inside. Marler was made to look like he was driving in, but it was caused by the TH, knowing full well Marler was being looked at.

England pack was very naive. In the last year, they have just tried to push everyone off the ball. Any team with a perceived weaker scrum will look to make it a mess, and England have had no answer.

Anyhow, back to today, Wales definately on the wrong side of the ref - makes it very hard.

Yes.

Why are Wales not spreading the ball with a 2 man advantage? Amazing defence by AUS

Last two Welsh scrums should have been a penalty to Wales.

To be down to 13 and come away from that 10 mins three points further ahead - outstanding.

I'm now supporting Scotland in their next game!

Should have been a pt for those scrums, but us second tier teams always get the worst of the reffing.

If Wales had cheated as successfully as Australia then I wouldn't complain. ๐Ÿ˜†

Neither would eye, hence good luck to them. All those scrums dropping and mauls being pulled down and the ref didnt even think of a pen try. Still we had our chances and failed to take them. Our weak bench didnt help/

Great game, and to be fair, I fancy our chances more against Wales than Oz..
Even if recent results would show otherwise.
Can't see Scotland going any further mind.

I did wonder about a pt, but it has to be a clear try denied and I'm not sure the way they were defending whether it was ever 'inevitable'

Wales were written off for this one (hope more than expectation may be fairer) but played pretty well to keep the game tight and not let Aus run wild. That said they had their chances and didn't take them.

Others may disagree but all this lambasting of Robshaw not kicking points and no concerns on Wales not taking them either? It must have been really tempting to crack on with only 13 defenders up against you, but in a tight game more than any you take the points??? Aus didn't seem to offer much but defended heroically and kept the scoreboard ticking over. Rule #1 of international rugby- keep the scoreboard ticking over. Maybe they just fancied their chances in a game that *didn't really matter* I'm not sure.

Anyway, lets hope Liam hasn't damaged his foot again and lets also hope Cuthburt gets cited for his knock on ๐Ÿ˜‰ How long would it take to convert Lloyd Williams to a full time winger do you think? ๐Ÿ˜€

If Wales had cheated as successfully as Australia then I wouldn't complain.

My thoughts exactly. One of the best exectuted was some very good tactical falling over the defensive ruck and letting the backrow have some more time to poach... or making damn sure they ran in to as many Welsh in the backline as possible in a very clever tacklingthemanoofhteballwithoutactuallytackling tactic. Fair play to them as it is all part of the game!

Great high pressure game with a lot to play for with the winner odds on favourites for a semi final place. Highlight was the Aussie defence when two men down, dare I say it reminds me of a famous win in NZ long ago, tremendous character, determination and organisation. The Aussies will come away with many positives from that stand.

Discipline, penalty in the first min and now a neck grab. Shouldn't have that been yellow?

Just wait, after 15 tries the headlines will be "england resurgent" wot a load of bollox the press are. I wonder if they feel shame for every stoopid penalty.

Wales were 10 points down and needed a try. A draw wouldnt have helped them and a kick wouldnt have pulled them level.
Wonder if we can find a fit winger to replace Liam, or will we player Tyler Morgan at 13. Our backline today really lacked footballers. Biggar, Roberts, North, Calamity Cuthbert, Loopy Liam none of them are players who put others into space. Anscombe could be a good player in that regard but its a big ask to debut in the world cup v Aus. He did quite well in the end.

Francis and Jarvis trundling off the bench did for us.
