Nothing else like ted ted could comfort my boy, and now it looks like it's gone forever.
Today i've been to M&S, mothercare, mamas n papas, bhs, in a vane attempt to find something similar - sweet FA!!!!
Anyone had this happen to their little one? How long until the bairn gives up all hope of seeing blanky again and moves onto the next teddy to tickle his nose with??
RIP Ted 🙁
Do they still sell them where you bought it from??
it was from MnS - they've replaced the teddy with an elephant - not a patch on ted and the little un' just wanted to rip it's trunk off
is his teddy still here?
and, if the B.A.Nana suggestion draws a blank....
a veritable cornucopia of fury dopplegangers?
as a complete aside - the Manchester Evening News carried a story last year about a very poorly little person who was in a similar position, having lost their cuddly little best friend.
Sister in law recognised said cuddly friend was exactly what her little daughter was in love with, so in love mummy had bought a couple of spares, having previously suffered a cuddly toy bereavement issue with #1 son...
Contact was made and one of the spare duly donated.... 😀
Get some sleep now, while you can!
Give him a brush to sleep with. This is what we did for the sheepdog puppies.
it's not on the M&S website, sleep sounds like a good idea - and comparing my son to a sheep dog....... 😯
Anyone had this happen to their little one
Sort of, but it worked the other way for us 😉
Our first one had her favorite bear "Didi" so Mum in her wisdom decided to get another one exactly the same just in case we came to lose him.
The plan was to keep one upstairs and one downstairs, all was fine for nearly a year, when one night our little one on her way up to bed, was heard to scream "Didi Didi"!
Didi downstairs meet Didi upstairs!
Now every night after that, we had to make sure little one has both Didi's! for bed time!
Romster -you have been warned 😉
yer jokin - that's funny. well looks like my night will be spent trawling the web for a new ted ted, so far.......still SWEET FA luck.......

edit - ok - so it's not the same - but it's m&s..... 😉
right, I really have work to do - happy shopping!
What did he like about it? I mean my twins just used to play with the silky label. If I lost blanky then any T shirt label would do at a push but we had lots of spare blanky because losses were frequent. He's a litlle young to be attached to the actual ted. probably the texture or shape of a leg or something
Our Nephew had a comfort blanket as a baby which I decided to cut in half for this very reason. Yes we did lose it and voila, there was the spare one all ready and waiting.
@marsdenman - i went into M&S today and nearly bought that as a replacement!!!!!! but it just wasn't right........it is the closest i've found since though...
@raveydavey - trust me mate he's not attached to a "leg" or the "shape", the reason i called it ted ted is because he calls it ted ted. He kisses, (kissed) it on a morning when he woke up, kisses (kissed) it on a night before bed, and jibber jabbers to it all day. It never left his side and if he didn't know where it was he was on the hunt for it!
Both of my kids had comforters my daughter had a blanket from GAP which she still wont sleep without and she is now 11 and it is pretty raggy, we cant wash it through fear of completely falling apart. My son had a clown that he dragged every where with him, the voice box stopped working, we stitched it back together lots of times he really loved it. Now it lives in a box in the loft with those other items that make you remember. Put up some missing posters around near where you think you lost it perhaps.
ebay no 320527687483 perhaps
It's quite standard practice where I live to put an ad/run an article in the local newspaper for a situation as grave as this.. also a facebook campaign.
Our mate discovered that an accomppanying photo of your child looking very sad and disillusioned helps alot.

Sorry mate wasn't trying to do you down or nothin. Its shit when that happens. One of mine lost her fav doll in corfu one year we had 2 weeks of hell! she was 4 at time and not for giving up. Hope you find something to keep the little fella quiet

WELCOME BACK TED TED!!!!!!!!
P.S - Anyone having difficulties with paypal?? i can't get the page to load to pay for the damn thing now.............
Aww, a happy ending!
We had similar problem when we lost my little boy's cuddly monkey which my parents bought for him from Las Vegas!
I couldn't find it anywhere in this country and ended up ordering two replacements from US ebay!
Retraced our steps next day and the original had been found in the last shop we tried. Two replacements arrived and he didn't want to go near them as they didn't have the same covered in dribble and snot feel and smell. You might need to 'distress' your replacement to make it acceptable.
Awesome!
Some potential spares (Tedted's friends who are visiting?)...

Mrsflash I hope you are making notes 😉
I am already aware of the importance of these things due to my neices "pink dolly" (of which there are 2).
Good to see there is a happy ending.
My brother lost his teddy, 'Little Choc', on the beach when he was 5.
He hasn't quite got over it yet. He is 35.
AND RELAXXXXXX.
Teddy bear bought - just need to go and find a cool little patch to sew over the "it's a girl" and we're done.
All in all - top result! well happy.
Over the past 2 yrs My wife has bought the same cuddly toy for My son 5 Times.
Being without Mr Rabbit is not an option.

amen to that brother!
TRH jnr has about 10 favourites. Roar, monkey, ellafunt, squirrel, Maxbear and bow are currently tucked up in bed with him. Pauline penguin, panda and the others have got a night off.
****ing pregnancy hormones. sob.
Great to see you found a similar replacement, but what happened to the original ted ted?
Don't worry I have a friend who's daughter spent 20 minutes every night talking to her collection of snuggly creatures before she would even consider going to sleep.
She even gave me a little bear "Frederic" for a birthday present a few years back.
Well:
My car was in to be fixed today (oil leak), and Roman had a Doctors appointment at 10.30am - car was dropped off prior to this, so the fiance had to walk with laddo in his pram.
On way home from doc's - Roman got a bit whiney - mummy leans over to give him ted ted so he can have a nap and shock horror NO TED TED!
She traced her steps back through the village to the doctors - no sign, and then re-traced her steps back home - from the Docs - and still no sign.
She seem's to have a complete memory lapse and can't remember the last time he had ted ted on the trip although she is 100% certaing he had it when they left the house!
Farewell Ted Ted - Gone but never forgotten.
Too late now but we bought two identical blankies for exactly this reason.
It's never too late - i'm (OBVIOUSLY IN THE MARKET FOR ATLEAST 2 SPARES)!!!!
Let me know - andy@romsterbikewear.com
I think your a great father for tracking down a replacement, if in later years he acts up as a teenager give us a shout and I will tell him what a little sod he is considering how his dad went the extra mile for him 🙂
lol - "thumbs up" @ MrOvershoot
Been there, done that. Sadly, daughter # 1 nominated a limited edition JellyCat collectable as her favourite. We had acquired a spare in case and then one fateful day he snuck onto the bus into town and then legged it. I walked the streets of Guildford for hours in vain. Donkey was gone - the soft toy equivalent of Richie Manic. So the spare came out, and all was well again. Except without backup we're in the last chance saloon, and feeling horribly exposed. So we trawled ebay time and again until one day, there he was. BNWT Donkey. I'm refusing to say what we paid but as per the top it's a limited edition collectable.
It doesn't end there.
Unfortunately, purely by chance Donkey and his twin-who-must-never-be-seen met a few weeks ago. Daughter #1 went mental; how dare we try to pass off this imposter. His ears aren't the same and the stitching on his eye isn't slightly loose. Kind of the child equivalent of matter meets anti-matter - the two must never ever be seen together again.
Which now creates a dilemma. Do we keep the imposter just in case? Or put him back on ebay again.......
Serious tip for the parents / parents to be. Don't offer too many choices to them as their favourites, and try to steer them to a cheap and replaceable / backup-able one if you can. It's hard enough replacing JellyCat Donkey; don't get in the position where only the hand made soft toy that your sister in law bought froma remote village trekking in Ecuador will do!!!!
romster - Memberlol - "thumbs up" @ MrOvershoot
Consider it a gratis service, I don't have children (a wife with MS put paid to that) but I appreciate how hard it is to balance work and dependants in the same day.
He looks a proper happy little chap though & don't let him forget who his favourite bear is 😉
For all these parents allowing 'spare' soft toys to meet with the current version, why not just put said spare in the loft until such a time as it's needed?
I have seen me searching entire supermarket floors for 'Moo Moo' and 'Floppy' before. Its great fun asking customer services to put a call out if anyone has seen them.
Just in case, Floppy is my sons little doggy and Moo Moo (Purchased by Trekster off here) is a cow belonging to my daughter
Result, nice one
Glad to hear all's been sorted 🙂
My 3yo has "Humphrey", a little elephant with attached blanket. More accurately she has 3 humphreys (she had 4 but one went awol a few months back).
We initially had 1 but the reserves were enlisted early on for just such an event. Mrs Verses hangs them up on their own hooks by their blankets in the airing cupboard and for quite a while we made sure mini-verses didn't know about the "spares". One time Mrs Verses left the airing cupboard door open and mini Verses saw the spares all hung up. It must have looked like the elephant ku klux clan had been along! Anyhow, Mini Verses likes the idea of the spares and even requests a clean one from time to time (suspect she's inherited Mrs Verses OCD 😉 )
Well done on finding a spare, I keep trying to convince the OH that wqe need a spare "Mr Catepillar" (ok so we're not quite sorted out the naming of toys yet, but she is only 6 months).
I found him at a charity shop for 70p, and she loves him, will cry non stop if you put her in the car or pram without him. I'm terrified we'll lose him or leave him at a friends house.
After reading this, I may send the SO to town today to get one (Mothercare do a close comparison)

Are you mad? When they can tell the difference in the stitching of an eye from 10 yards, they'll spot the difference between a BNWT and the ones that been dragged through hedges, chundered on, worn dinner on a regular occasion....
They have to be cycled and recycled time and again to even up the wear. And even then, there's something obvious to them and not you!
Ours got found because he'd been washed and was on the boiler under a pile of other washing drying out. And well meaning Grandma decided she'd put the washing away. Hence the reveal!
tinker-belle. Do it. I feel physically sick at the thought of losing Donkey.

Ah, didn't think of that. Good job I'm not a parent yet then...
you could try these, not ideantial to the ones we get but I will find the exact one, we have 3 of them just in case + they make nice gifts for friends little ones, both of ours love them
Our little Izzi shakes her head from left to right manically in her cot trying to find both blankies (yes, we have made the error of letting them see both so they both want two each). She won't settle till she knows they are both there. She has also started to talk to them (well as much as an 11 month old can talk).
Fortunately I have a dressing gown which has a similar texture to the blankies so when I am holding her in bed after a witching hour feed, she will accept that as a substitute.
🙂
Jesus, reading this thread Man Up........................
Abigail has a kitten and a taggy blanket
Jamie has a taggy blanket and iggle piggle, hate to think what would happen if any of them went missing.
A few years ago our little fella had Barney a purple limited edition beanie soft toy. On holiday in Wales out in the countryside we dropped it. There was much heartache over the next few days and it was finaly agreed that the "otters had taken it". Getting back off holiday we scoured ebay, found a doppleganger Barney and put an excessive bid on the new Barney. In time "the otters sent Barney back" and all was well until someone gave him a new toy a few days later and Barney was cast aside....
Blimey, I had better order a spare Gruffalo.
I got to name my son’s toys. So we have Lionel the sleepy dog, Mr Flibble the penguin and Julian the small lion. My son took it upon himself to name my daughters toys. So we have Boo Boo the bunny, Bun Bun the bunny and Downstairs Bunny the bunny (who stays downstairs).
Hi
Just ebeen looking for a comforter as we lost one. There is a its a boy one on ebay-Thought I'd let you know so you could have a spare
I feel like you may have just jinxed me, and if i don't buy this, the inevitable is going to happen. Argh! He he. Send us the link over and i'll take a look. That is amazingly thoughtful and kind of you though. *thumbs up*
My son is nearly 11 and still takes the scabby remains of a baby blanket to bed.It is haNd crocheted by an old dear and I would never be able to replce it.
I've still got Fake Brown Bear somewhere... Brown Bear was the original, a mothercare bear the same as every other kid my age had, and when he was lost my mum and dad tried to switch him, but apparently I was having none of it, obviously didn't smell right or had a funny accent or something. But after about 3 months of crying and refusing to sleep I decided this new Brown Bear, while obviously not to the same standard as Brown Bear, was making the effort and so should I. My dad named him obviously
My goodness, I must have been a heartless child - couldn't be bothered with soft toys and kicked them all out of the bed!
My brother had about four of the same Mothercare rabbits over his childhood, but he accepted replacements no bother - must have been unusually pragmatic.. that or he had no sense of loyalty 🙄
Hi
I have no idea how to send a link and my husband frowned at me like I was a fool when I asked him
Anyway tap in its a boy mothercare and it comes up in the search
Hope that helps
