Help, I am seriously considering ditching my phone number I have had since the year dot, because I am getting a phone call everyday from 0113 457 97**. The last two digit keeps on changing, so as fast as I send a number straight to voicemail another pops in. I am also getting lots of 0131 numbers ringing me. Some how I have got onto a suckers database.
A couple of weeks ago I answered, but a random name was asked for by a hard to comprehend person.
Can I download an App to block all numbers with 0113 457 97 Prefix?
Any other suggestions?
Also, I presume it's a scam, please explain how it works.
Wally.
I've got "who called me" on Android. It screens calls, you can probably block too (I've not tried).
Yes I am android. Many thanks and personally - I like the new "look" 🙂
Trying "Should I answer?"
Seems easier than "Who called me"
All my dodgy numbers were known nuisance calls and now blocked.
Wally.
Apologies - it is "Should I Answer" I'm using, I mis-remembered. Little octopus icon.
Who Called Me is a website where you can look up nuisance numbers.
Just block number on phone works for me
NQ call block works well for me on android.
Android App Blacklist Plus (Vlad Lee) works for me. Is blacklisting built into more recent Android?
I have TruCaller on my phone, it's great at blocking calls in advance when it recognises lots of reports of spam calls from that number
Strangely. The call blocking function varies across android phones. Was a very simple operation on my old phone, less so on my Sony
Is blacklisting built into more recent Android?
Yes, but it just puts the call straight to voicemail, it doesn't block it as such.
The spammers (as noted above) have got more sophisticated buy using a range of numbers - I think I recall seeing an app that can blacklist ranges, so you put the first 6 digits or so in, and the last few are 'wild cards',

Yes, it's a Sony I have. Blocking a number is a multiple button press on each number. PITA. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm a little wired from taking out a mate on his E-bike for a proper early Forest blat, ending in a bacon sarnie. Fabulous start the holidays. Simple things.
Blocking a range of numbers is indeed what I want..
I've recently been inundated with nuisance calls from energy switch type people (answered first few times) but their number shows up as coming from different land line area codes from around the country. Not had this before, pain having to block each one.
