Is this possible?
I've quickly scanned the DC Rainmaker and Zwift sites and they indicate it can only be installed on 4th generation Apple TVs.
Is there an unofficial way of getting it onto earlier versions?
Being a Windows/Android kinda guy, I'm not expecting so but hoping some Apple experts can enlighten me 😉
No. They are entirely different. Sorry.

Drat!
Thanks anyway!!
Surely you can just run it on your iPhone/iPad and Screen Mirror it to the ATV 3? If you’re just looking for a way to see it on a big telly.
Screen Mirror
Not being able Apple user, is this the same technique as Google Chromecast?
Girlfriend has a work iPhone we installed Zwift on so I could try it as a used 3rd gen is about a quarter of the price of a new 4th gen (and this setup is just meant to be a stopgap solution until I get a working PC again...see my other thread!)
We use screen mirroing to send stuff to our atv3 which are not supported directly, eg we stream Curzon movies onto the phone then send them to the atv. You will have to make sure you have a good wifi signal.
If you haven't got it sorted OP try here
Thanks Sandwich, that'll save me some time if I go down this route...
Screen mirroring works but running it from a 4thgen Apple TV is better graphics to the point its as good as big bucks PC.
Apple TV is also now one of there best products IMO so a good option if your zwifting in a TV watching space.
