4 Horseman looks an interesting challenge......I might do that Sunday for a challenge over the weekend, Saturday have a light ride, I'd start that a bit earlier seems more suitable as a solo it's the sort of distance and climbing that doesn't map to chasing riders up hill 🙂

Seen the invite Brian for the commute club tomorrow, I'm not sure if I'll make it but have accepted. I'll hopefully see you there.

...but it will be a slow one for me after today 🙂

Me too. Was supposed to be a 45-50mi ride with the wife this afternoon, ended up a little over half and very tired legs!

It'll certainly be an earlier start if I do. It's an odd one in terms of group or solo, it'd work well as a huge sportive type thing I think, so you can find a bunch to sit with for the duration but at a pace you're happy with.
A small group would probably come apart at the first hill (not sure which it is mind, if its a sub 10 min for everyone climb you'd be OK holding together for that I think) so it'll end up being a solo anyhow and getting spat out the back isn't great for morale (mind at least). Solo I think the challenge would be making it over the first climb, especially early on a morning, without deciding I've better things to do on a Sunday!

I can see how it would work well for a huge group as you'd fall into natural groups and your right being at the back is tough on morale.

I've pretty much talked myself into to trying it now, and will working my weeks exercise around it. I am good at self motivation once I've set a goal.

No trouble at all, (late notice probably not a bad thing otherwise I'd still be asleep with a late alarm today, I'm knackered!)

I can't do tomorrow as I've to be at my office but I'm happy to set one up if others want as I think someone else mentioned Tuesday & Thursday

I mentioned Tuesday and Thursday as fits with work/schooling/scheduled training. If Weeksy is putting on a Tuesday evening ride though I will prioritise that.

VO2 max workout at lunchtime today. It might not be too bad...

Well done Brian for going again, work gave me the excuse my legs probably needed 🙂

Dont worry about putting something on for tomorrow, I'll probably do a slowish freeride.

I am happy to put out an invite for Hare and Hounds.

What route would be best? They are all open to us.

I'd say something flatish so the Hounds can use their power and group. There's likely to be less hounds, so to give them a chance they need to group up. Otherwise it's like your last one and just 1-2 of the super climbers who have a chance of bridging.

same with the hare group, splintered almost immediately on the climb so ended up just getting picked off one by one by the 2 really fast hounds who were basically soloing it 😂

I mentioned Tuesday and Thursday
Tues evening works for me. Thurs evening already has the TTT, not that you can't do a meetup then but you'd have a few less takers. Weds probably not ideal for those riders either as they'll be wanting to save their legs 😃

What about Richmond UCI course? Flat until the last 2-3 miles and short sharp climbs.

If they catch on the first lap then everyone can regroup and do a lap together if they make it over the hilly section they might make it round the second lap.

For Tuesday evening.

Tues is good, no plans here...

I'd say something like Greater London Flat, Greatest London Flat, Volcano Flat would arugably suit grouping better. Don't want it to be a pure power fest like Richmond flat i guess, but got to try and make both teams work as groups rather than a bunch of individuals.

You know the courses better than anyone weeksy so would go with your suggestion.

Do you want to put the invite out or shall I?

Happy with whatever course you like and Tuesday works fine for me.
This would be my suggestion to try stop it disintegrating;

Three groups - Hares (D & C), fast Hares (stronger Cs) and Hounds (B and A)

Don't worry about your category - enter what ever group you feel the most comfortable riding with.

Critical rule - no breakaways. If you're feeling strong enough to breakaway then take long turns on the front to help your group or drop and help anyone needing a wheel to keep up. The objective is for your group to catch the group in front (or stay away) - not just the odd rider

Do you think that would work?

Sent for 18:30 on Tues.

C/D riders in Bumble Bee kit... A/B riders (And Magneto Dog) in whatever kit we all have acceess to, we'll decide on the day.

You guys know better than me on the head start, but i guess 4-5 mins lead over the hour for the hares ? Depends if Phil56 turns up and we all just sit on his wheel of course LOL.

Mostly, but i think stick with 2 groups, i think logistically getting 3 group in their right kits and name tags is tough. LOL. .... and Magentodog isn't allowed in anything but Hounds because he's too powerful and thinks he's worse than he really is 🙂

I was just thinking of doing another, so this is quite well timed!

After last time I think splitting into further groups based on A, B, C and D cats would be a good shout though.

I agree with the focus being on the group as well, if you can manage a solo breakaway you're probably in the wrong group!

If you guys think we can get everyone organised in that 15 mins window, i have no issues with it at all. That said, i think on a flat course 2 groups will be fine using the 'no breakaway' type rule. It's possible people of course will get dropped from groups, that's fine.. but enforcing a no breakaway means the majority of riders will stay in based upon what we've seen in the past 8 weeks.

I'm fine to experiment with whatever folk think will work - but I think the no breakaway rule is the crucial bit.

You'll be the one blowing the hounds apart so you'll be the one we need to enforce the rule with most 😉

I think it was mooman off the front of the hounds last time wasn't it? With a bit of luck I'll manage to turn up in time for this one.

Would there be any interest in a 3 day event where the results of day 1 feed into the events of day 2 and so on?

As long as he's not a Ringer and doing 400w for the hares

Nope. First time on Zwift so will prob spend it between breakaways and drop off as they try and get used to group ride dynamics.

Sounds like I have to be a hound...

A/B riders (And Magneto Dog)

even though I was a catD 3 weeks ago!!

That will mean the Hares will have a decent chance as I’ll be working like a handicap 😂😂

So without any more input, i guess for tonight we'll go with 2 groups.

Bumble bee kit for the hares... Red and black dennis the menace kit for the hounds ?

The next question is, what sort of a lead to give the hares... how many did you go for last time ? I think maybe 5 mins over this sort of a course ?

I think it was 5 minutes last time, about 10% of a C race lap if I recall

5 minutes sounds good I think. If there are to be no breakaways then if the hares get caught it will be easier to regroup for a group finish.

Have a great ride this evening all, again I wish I could be involved in these but work times don't allow it. All my riding is early doors during the week, London Pretzel this morning, that was a fun course, 56km, nothing too bad!
