How does it feel ? Not too slack i hope ....
Better not show the missus as she'll spot the ano red bling and want it all on her xc comp !!
On the standard ride up and down the avenue it feels fine.
I dropped the bars 10mm by removing the spacer beneath the stem too.
Should be off to the Marin tomorrow if i can be arsed getting out of bed at 7am!!
lush mate know the feeling about the early start! Afan maeans a 6 am strt for me on the plus side with go roads I can be there and on the trail by 9!
Marins a 3hr drive for me so usually leave about 7am too !!
Am thinking of a few upgrades for mine but not sure what yet 😯
I nearly bought one instead of the trancex. But couldn't cope with the pink rocker. Reckon its good tho.
Well I ended up at Llandegla after a fair few beers last night 😐 the bike handles very well, to be honest I don't think it's much different fromt he Pikes when climbing but it rips on the downs 😀
The only thing that let the day down was me, chucking up the once and coughing my gust up for the rest of the ride.
Oh yeah also ended up head first into one of the drainage chanels that runs under the black after realising I couldn;t change direction or brakes very well with no wheels on the ground, he hee 😆
Steve - I hope you don't mind me asking, but what's your logic behind buying the lower end model of Spesh's budget bouncer and then spending that much money on it that you could have bought a decent Enduro or Remedy.
I guess you're going to tell me about the Pitch being better than the Enduro, then back it up with the Enduro's shock problems. My answer to that would be that the shock problems were only really bad in '07 and a correctly set-up Enduro will actually be better than a Pitch by some way. The Pitch to me seems like a very good bike - for the money. However - that's my point - when the price point increases sharply, is it really any better than any other bike of a similar ilk out there?
Second question - is the eye to eye distance correct on the DHX shock you've fitted? I've not studied any Pitches too close, but that rocker just looks at a funny angle.
Cheers, STR

I bought the bike as that's the very best I could afford at the time, and i haven't really spent that much on it.
The wheels I fancied so I bought them, also my rear hub was shot, so I thought what the hell.
The forks I swapped for the Pikes
The Shock was only £150 from Mojo
Other bits n' bobs were either presents or something every few months.
The Cranks - I knackered the ones on the biek and they were £75 brand new last autumn.
I don't think Remedys were out in Oct/Nov '07 when I got the Pitch and Enduros were way too espensive

Recently MBR said the Pitch was better than the '09 Enduro by some margin, that'll do me.
Do you have an Enduro if so have you ridden both bikes back to back or are these opinions based on reading material/general opinion, I do apologise if you have infact made the comaprison back to back, in which case it may well be a valid point.

At it's price, especially the new revised RRP's from Specialized I do think the Pitch is an awesome buy, probably points towards their popularity. However if you've got 2k to spend there are better bikes, over 2k and the world is your playground. Alot of people out there can't justify £1500 plus on a frame alone so get the whole bike for less.

The shock is a 200mm i2i and a 57mm stroke, bought new from Mojo so it's correct, I checked it against the one that came off there. Just for comparison here's a completly standard 2009 Pitch Pro (US bike hence the different colours)
Hi Steve, whats the seatpost? any good? how much?
Thanks
p.s. I got a Pitch Pro and I love it!

Fairy muff.
But someone swapped some 36 Vans for OEM Pikes. Are they a little odd?

I've got an '06 Enduro, have test ridden an '08 Enduro SL and my mate has a Pitch Pro, although no I haven't ridden them suitably to give a 100% valid comparison and there is an element of gut feeling - after 20 odd years of MTB'ing you get a feel for a bike fairly quickly.

Re-reading the paragraph you've quoted above it reads like total bollox (my words do, I mean) - what I was aiming at, was the fact that on first appearances you appeared to have made your Pitch a £2k plus machine. From what you say, that may not be the case, but I do believe if you paid for all the upgrades then the bike is not the sum of it's parts as other £2k+ bikes may be.
PS - it does look nice though
Oxboy - It's a Crank Bros. Joplin
TAF-STR, I do agree on the whole "If I'd paid for Everything" line, having spent a bit of time on a Lapierre Zesty 514 this weekend, now thats a bike and a half for £2300 I can tell thee.
Cheers on the nice looking bit 😉
