[#2929972]

I have fitted a XTR 970 Chainset, I am confused though, I have installed the left side crank arm and the instructions says that there should be no gap between the crank arm and the adjustment bolt and the nut should be fully tightened.
Then after tightening up the crank arm fixing bolt the instructions say to use the TL-FC17 tool to turn the adjustment nut in order to adjust the play, how on earth can you turn the adjustment nut with the plastic tool when it has already been tightened?
Any help would be appreciated.

Screw the adjustment nut into the crank as far as it will go.
Fit the crank onto the axle and torque up (it has to be pretty tight 55nM if I recall correctly).
Unscrew the adjustment nut from the crank to fill the gap between the crank and the bearing.
Tighten the small adjustment nut locking screw.

you need to loosen the adjustment bolt once you've fitted the LH crank then use the TL-FC17 tool (or your fingers to be fair) to move the adjusting ring:

When you say 'screw the adjustment nut into the crank as far as it will go' is this just finger tight?
