I am about to go tubeless on my Mavic 223 rims, have I got everything I need?
Rim tape like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=49694
Sealant like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=38850
Valves like these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=49695
Have I missed anything?
are you using tubeless tyres?
i find a good track pump makes it much easier to get the tyre beads quickly against the rims and thus inflated with no leakage.
Ah, tyres - good point. Will be using UST tyres.
Got a track pump.
Those valves look like they are designed for mavic ust rims, which may not make any difference in practice.
list:
[s]tubes[/s]
not using rimstrips?
its all here
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=38835
rimstrips with valves, tape, sealant
If they don't go up with a track pump you may need something like this
Steve
Not planning on the rim strips as not sure what they actually do. Are they necessary or useful? £50 pricetag is a bit off putting
I use these:
maxxis 20" tubes
and 'ghetto' them into rimstrips, even with notubes rims. Never had an initial inflation failure, never had a tyre roll off or lose air even at under 20psi. I have the presta bmx version currently with Crests but am fitting Flows this week and drilling out to schraeder (I hate presta). Rimstrip weighs about 25g inc valve once I've finished.
