If I can get them both for the same price, which would be better? Lighter XT or more durable SLX?

I don't think XT is less durable just lighter due to full ALU spider. Get the XT.

Yeah, I don't think SLX is really more durable... I use both but only for the weight and price differences.

XT have more cogs on the alu spider. Think its the 3 largest on SLX and maybe 6 on XT?
XT is a chunk lighter, but won't be any less durable.
