Morning All

I need the bearing cap for a set of XT 770 cranks as mine has been claimed by fridge suck (or some other similar phenomenum). I got one last year for another set of cranks but CRC have since stopped doing them.

Cheers all 🙂

Tech Docs here You need part #1, Shimano code Y1F811100

You should be able to get it from any good LBS as they all should have a Madison account madison link, or if you want it on line, SJS have it instock here

The one linked to on SJS is for a LX M582 and doesnt state its compatible with M770. I did try to use the one from my LX M580 cranks however the screw thread isnt wide enough.

Does anyone have a direct link for one please?

The one on SJS is correct. That part was first used on M582 hence being described as that but will fit the M770 too. M580 was a different size so won't work as you have found.

This is only to pre-tension the bearings before you tighten the 2 allen bolts.
Nothing to stop you using a QR and some spacers to nip the cranks in position without this elusive cap.
You can certainly ride the bike after tightening the 2 allens.

Bit like a headset top-cap.....useful but not essential.

I know this does not work with the road cranks as they have a sealed drive-side.

Thanks for the advice all. After taking postage into account its only a pound differance between the plastic and the KCNC one so shiney wins 😉
