I need to increase the travel on a mates X-fusion sweep, the video looks simple enough and we have the damper tool, but no Arbor press. What did you use instead? Any tips most welcome.
I just improvised, I can't even remember how, but there's a post from B**** in this thread suggesting blocks of wood and stuff:

I don't remember it being a problem tbh, but that may just be the rosy tint of time making things seem retrospectively easier than they actually were.
I hold the round travel limiter thing in a softjaw vice and use a small pin punch. Takes some courage to hit it hard enough to get it moving, but comes out easy enough after that. Don't knock it all the way out, just enough to clear the rod and move the limiter.
https://www.toolstation.com/pin-punch-set/p44554 I forget what size fits it.
You can press it back in with the vice if you're careful.
Note you will need not only the damper tool to get the lowers off, but a tool to unscrew the disc on the bottom of the airside leg. Something like this.
That is what it will probably come down to, I know what you mean about the rosy tint!
Sounds good martin, circlip pliers should do the job.
Takes a lot of force to shift it, and needs an equal amount of grunt to get it back tight enough. I couldn't manage it with circlip pliers, but your skillz may be superior. ๐
If you're just reducing travel I successfully used plastic spacers instead of removing the pin.
Probably not martin, I will tell my mate to buy the tool!
bungletastic: No, i'm extending the travel.
Timely thread. I'm imminently extending my sweeps, and this thread just prompted me to buy a pin spanner. Have vice, soft jaws, punches, pillar drill, blocks of wood, so hopefully will be able to move the pin ok.
