Has anyone had any success setting up the cheaper (Comp?) WTB tyres tubeless? My new bike comes with a pair of non-TCS Trail Boss tyres and I'm looking for advice before I attempt it.

Highly doubtful, likely sealant will just ooze out the sidewall.

They can be a bit faffy but it can be done. I've converted 650b Nanos and bee-lines.

My TCS Nanos had weepier sidewalks than either of those two.

I got my ranger to seat and inflate. Also rode it for short rides. However it leaked loads of sealant out of the side walls continuously, even when the bike was stored. I assumed it would stop at some point but it never did and in the end I replaced it with the TCS light version (which also leaked loads 😠). Now got the tough version which has noticeable thicker side walls.

For the amount of sealant on the inside of the light version when it came off I'm really surprised the weaping didn't stop.

They will stop weeping eventually, but I recall it being months, long enough so I replaced the rear with a Maxxis and was planning to do the front when it stopped.

I had 50% success with mine, it's worth a try in my opinion.

The Vigilante seated fine without sealant and held up fine over time, didn't lose pressure at all and was ridden pretty hard. No weepage issues at all.

My Trail Boss was impossible to seat, trying all sorts of tricks including inner tubes, compressors, removed valves etc. It think it might have worked with more rim tape but it was my first time going tubeless and I didn't want the faff.

Cheers for the advice. I think I'll run them with tubes a few times to see if I actually like the tyres and if not I'll just swap them out for some trusty Minion DHFs (like I've ridden for the last 15ish years).
