Does Friday count as the weekend? When the weather and trails are as good as this I propose that EVERY day should be the weekend...

You know what to do.

Ride your bike.

Take some pictures.

Post them up with a few words.

Early morning blast around my local trails. New trail additions at Callendar Estates trail centre officially open - just a couple of short diversions on the green trail (the 'Tamfourhill Balcony' trail overlooking the charm that is Tamfourhill...). Fun! A series of mini bomb holes, fun on the Cascade.

Shite weather here. Went for a run around some singletrack in the mud. Chased a brush turkey and took a terrible photo as I was running and it was so gloomy under the clouds and trees 🙄 IMG_0191.jpeg

We went out early in Massa Marittima as rain was forcast for later and it had put quite a bit down overnight.

Plenty of trails to pick from once at the top so it was a case of hitting one then a climb back up for another. All the trails are rocky at the top then rooty as you progress lower. Fast and flowy but the rocks are very slippy in the wet

First time this trip that we have had muddy clothes and dirty bikes

It's always good exploring new trails as you never know whats next.🤞

Took it in turns to chase each other down the trails 😎

The Peak was primo today. 48km/1300m climbing. Langsett, over Cut Gate, climbed up to Lost Lad & Back Tor, Derwent Edge, down to Ladybower in, climbed back up Cut throat ridge, then descent to Fairholmes, back up beside Derwent to Skipper Stones, and Cut Gate/North America to finish.

Loose, dusty and rubbly, but all excellent.

Nowt useful to add to this thread as I didn't take any pictures but had a nice ride over Golfie this morning with another STWer.

Very relaxing ride and nice to catch up with him again despite the fact he needs to ride his bike a bit more 😉

Still managed to get just shy of 1000 Meters so still counts as a ride.

22 miles on the road bike this evening. Not much by many roadies standards but the longest ride I've done in years so I'm happy. Singlespeed too so was probably working harder than I used to with gears on certain climbs!

Continuing rain meant most of the trails were flooded and I just rode the rocky tracks and climbed back up the tarmac at  Tewantin.

First ride out 3 weeks after my crash. Very, very gentle ride with my youngest on his new bits bike.

Probably about 6 miles max on gravel, no major pain whilst riding, which was a relief.

My youngest loved the new bike, just need to trim the bars down a bit more!

Last day in Massa Marittima for us. Tomorrow we travel back North for 5 hours to Finale Ligure.

Trails were still wet and slippy from the overnight rain. Once again we took it in turns to chase each other down then back to the top for another trail and repeated it all day. Sun was out and the trails were getting faster.

Had a great time here for the few days that we visited

@tracey - not sure you're riding that out!

Plan was for a proper big day out in the Yat riding three properly tech trails I've yet to tick off this year. Obviously that's not something you want to do with a hangover/rubbish sleep. You'd have thought I'd have learned that by now. Apparently not. 60km/1315m of climbing, noodly arms and legs on the last descent, plenty of beers to recuperate. Garmin thinks I need 4 days to recover, and honestly I'm too blooming tired to argue 😉

Like Stu says- we defo need some rain, it's gone from hero dirty to burnished gripless dust!

Actually still can't believe the early summer we are having, getting as many rides in as possible

Steady local loop, bumped into a mate trail building (he builds some good trails above Bakewell), had a couple of pub stops, thousands of tiny caterpillars hanging from threads today, absolutely covered in the things.

@singlespeedstu- me neither. The Stamina thing was down to 3% as well and it started at 100%

I'm suspicious that maybe the HRM on the watch was over-reading. I was pretty much in limp home mode for the last 10km tho. Whatever my plan for physical activity today is repeated reps to the fridge 🙂

No pics today but the local bridleways are bone dry and corrugated due the winter horse traffic. Notable because these are on London Clay which stays wet until quite late.

Back in Bavaria, baby......!

Started the day with my first fry up in ages (not a fan of German sausages as they're far too finely ground up, but Lidl had some Italian ones and they're similar in style to a British banger)

When you're near Finale have a look at Mont Alpet and Viola bike parks. About an hour or so from Finale.

Thumbs up button isn't working for me, but loving all the posts and photos - it's amazing the difference an extended period of decent weather makes (sorry @reeksy).

Too much family stuff meant the only other weekend ride I managed was Sunday evening, another e-blast on Colsnaur. Incredibly dry conditions made for an easier ascent and a rapid descent. Extended out to 32km/1,050m making the most of the assistance (not taking it easy!) and rinsed the battery down to 22% remaining.

I had a great long weekend with 3 mates on the inaugural Bicycle Walking Club rough stuff weekender. A very simple premise: singlespeed mtb touring with the emphasis firmly on fun. I’d plotted a route around Wenlock edge and long Mynd with two nights camping. The great thing about singlespeeding it was that everyone was going to be walking at some point which meant we stuck together and moaned and laughed at the same times. I was on my 853 inbred and the only one with (tired) suspension. We were all on similar size gears between 50-55”.

There were a few times where the routing was sub-optimal in its clarity on the ground, but mirth was high. Bonus of spdandals meant that adding rivers to check on viability for passage was no issue.
The route worked out around 50/50 for on/off road and generally the off road parts were really enjoyable.

Once we had got up on top of Wenlock Edge it was agreed it was very much worth the push up

There were quite a few windblown trees along the top and the scents of wild garlic in bloom and the bluebells was immense

After a much-needed chippy lunch in Church Stretton we were back up onto the Long Mynd and I’ll be honest it was a tough push in places but followed by a lovely run along the Port Way and then down into Bridges for our second night camp

Sundays route was shortened from 20 miles to 14 by general consensus so we headed up into the Stiperstones through the aroma of coconut from the flowering gorse.

After a lovely tea, cake and ice cream at The Bog visitor centre we were then back up onto the Mynd and had another great rolling ride before dropping down into Carding Mill valley and finally Church Stretton again for ice cream and wind down before we went our separate ways.

Total distance over the three days was around 57 miles. Average speed was probably 7mph. It was a lot of fun.

Final day in Finale, I was originally flying home at 22.00 tomorrow but after finishing the job I was here for 24 hours early, so getting to ride Saturday, I changed my flight to midday tomorrow, so a leisurely return home, rather than packing up in a car park and travelling home after a full days riding and getting home in the early hours.

3 days, 11 shuttles, approximately 38,000ft of descending, bike was faultless, the guys at Finale Express are awesome, but I’m cooked!

it's amazing the difference an extended period of decent weather makes

Yeah I've been absolutely loving it, amazing what a mood booster this good weather is, I've really noticed it this year. Don't always like riding in the rain and mud so been making the most of it and getting out on the bike as much as possible, so good for my mental health which has been a bit shaky the past couple of years. Bikes are awesome.

Been out for most of the day hitting the EDR trails from this weekends race. 43 miles and over 2000m of descent. Almost a perfect day on the trails and great guiding from Mario at Trails Adventure.

Tea shower and an early night ready for tomorrow's adventures

I've been a bit quiet riding-wise the past two weekends as I've been out walking rather than riding. One was a bivvy trip with my oldest pal from school and last weekend it was wedding anniversary week away in (gasp!) Lancashire. Which was actually really good.

Anyway, out on the hardtail tonight for a rip around some classic XC trails to the NE of Leeds. This is probably one of the prettiest rides I know, when the weather is like this in the spring time.

Just *slightly* past it's best with some of the bluebells and wild garlic stating to go to seed. The hawthorn blossom was still stunning though, and I had a bit of a bonus explore down to the Wharfe and had a cheeky skinny dip.

Hardtail running really well, it's got gears back on it now in anticipation of some bivvy adventures ahead. Also first rode out for the syntace wheels off of the PSAs. Very impressed - very direct/stiff - feel like they transfer power very well.

Not quite the weekend, but last night I went out for my second ride on Britney. Got a PB on one of my local trails without even trying. Such a fast, poppy, flowing bike. I think we're going to have fun together.
