Not ridden the hardtail for ages, this mornings ride reminded me of why it's my most ridden bike

We have had 2 days of storms since we arrived in Engleberg on Friday so not been out on the bikes here yet.

Managed to get some hiking in and fingers crossed for biking in the next couple of days.

Back in the Black Mountains. First time on the ebike. Definitely makes things easier even if the Kamoot route we tried didn't! I know this part of the Brecon Beacons pretty well but saw a route with some potentially interesting options. Not sure anyone had ever ridden it.

My riding Bud David failed to style this one out 🙂

Back to Kirkhill today in the glorious sunshine. 25 miles and 3300ft of elevation. Bumped into two guys I'd never met before but ended up riding with them for a bit... which was cool.

I’ve been too busy to get out this weekend so decided to go for a quick local spin tonight to get my fix. Flatted 2 miles in on a rock garden then realised I’d taken the spare tube out of my frame storage. So a grumpy 2 mile walk home to finish off and no photos 😡

No pics because as usual I CBA uploading them but 87 miles on the gravel bike on Saturday. Train to Scarborough, cinder trail to Whitby for breakfast, back along the cinder trail for a few miles before dropping away from the coast and over the moors toward Langdale (via a couple of navigational mistakes), up and into Dalby, lunch in Thornton Dale and then over toward Castle Howard and a gentle spin along some quiet back roads back to York.

Ah, we're watching The Crown with the kids so I recognise that! (doubles as Balmoral Castle for those who don't know).

Super dusty at Glentress today.

I've not seen dust like that at GT before - we rode there on Saturday. Not used to those sort of conditions.

Great photos - was starting to quote some but it'd be unfair to pick out only a few 😎

A dusty day at Glentress with the kids on Saturday. My youngest's first 'proper' MTB ride since breaking her ankle at Easter, so was a day of rebuilding her confidence. Trails were powder in places. Just over 30km with Mrs a11y and me towing them uphill at times using the eMTBs. Great day out.

Twitcher's gained some impressive braking bumps since we last rode it in April:

Smile says it all - so happy to be back on her bike 😀

And I managed to improve my facial expressions for photos - I had to concentrate soooo hard at not gurning like I've done before...

(comparison photo from Easter when I don't know WTF my face was doing 😆 )

Went for coffees by the bandstand and then back via Stanmer and Wolstonbury. Very dry and increasingly dusty here too. So much so my summer rubber has nothing to hang on to on some techier descents. 20260719_120924.jpg20260719_121116.jpg20260719_121005.jpg20260719_091958.jpg20260719_103118.jpg

40k ride on the Beady yesterday. Weather was perfect, low 20's for a change so way down from the last few weeks. A lap of my local reservoir, and then into the woods for some selected red route laps.
