UPDATE: Reviews section refreshed, redesigned, searchable: Go take a look
Long story short…
The strap on my white Instinct 2x, after a couple of years of everyday use, is, quite frankly, gross!!
Still doing what it should do like a champ but it’s now all discoloured and sweat stained and quite honestly probably just needs killing with all of the fire
so…new strap time…
looking for recommendations on straps for the Instinct 2x, does anyone have any good experiences with third party straps or is an official Garmin item still the way to go?
looking to possibly avoid another white strap but am torn on which colour to go for so if anyone has opted for a different colour on their white watches, lets seem ‘em, pretty please…
Thanks in advance, folks
Thanks for this. My grey Instinct 2x is close to needing a new strap too!
I've been using letter salad affairs from Amazon.
I've been trying with the elasticated braided straps but figured they'd get equally manky

letter salad affairs?
I’m not averse to elasticated / nylon / whatever, figure they could probably be washed?!

wanna have a compare as to who’s needs burning first?! 🤣🤣
I have 3 of the nylon ladder strap ones from amazon. Means I can switch them over when they get sweaty and occasionally stinky. They hold on really well been biking, swimming, running and climbing with mine

have you a link to the one(s) you mention please, bud?
@donslow don't know what happened to the link

If you don't need them tomorrow there are countless options on Aliexpress or Temu for £2-3. The couple I've had have lasted better than the original that came with my Epix.

TEMU is firmly within mrs donslow’s domain, will get her to have a look next time she’s “only buying a few small bits” before the next lorry load turns up 🤣🤣
Picked up one of these for my 955 a few weeks ago. Less than a third the price of a Garmin strap and is indistinguishable in feel and functions from the official one it replaced.
I feel fabric is a bad idea - Garmins generally are worn when sweating, so something impermeable is surely a better plan??

I use the silicone one when cycling and the fabric for day to day stuff.
I have worn the fabric one on a mtb ride though, and found it got less sweaty than the silicone one as its more breathable. Easy enough to chuck in the washing machine in a delicates bag too.
I changed to one of these with a Fidlock clasp. Massive improvement over the standard silicone ones. I don't get sweaty as much or any rash now.

I recently changed the strap on my Fenix as my wrist suddenly started to react to it, most odd after about 4 or 5 years on it and two silicon straps but heh ho.
I looked around a lot, read loads of reviews, spotted the same cheap straps at expensive prices in some places but, for me, I went for the Garmin Ultra Strap, a bit pricey, but read loads of reviews and reviews of reviewers saying it was their strap of choice and not been disappointed.

Yeah. Garmin Ultrafit strap for me. I prefer the adjustability and stretchy fit.

It’s grey so it doesn’t look manky, but one of the loops has broken off and it’s wearing smooth.
grey could be the colour of choice here I feel
Plenty to chew over thanks to the suggestions, got some definite contenders, now just to decide on nylon vs rubber / silicone 😬😬
only have a forerunner but we ordered some silicone straps from smar****ch-straps.co.uk c£15 each with a 3 for 2 deal. Also bought a charger that sits flat against the back of the watch so it stays connected when you put it down!
Silicone seems fine, clasp isn't as nicely finished as the genuine ones but then they're £35 each. Garmin stuff is nearly always better made than any of the copies but you do pay a lot for it.
I’ve used this velcro loop thing for almost 3 years, it’s probably full of bacteria and sweat, but it goes through the shower with me pretty regularly and doesn’t seem to smell (he says sniffing his own wrist like a weirdo):
Infinitely adjustable and dirt cheap (Garmin ask a fortune for their own version, these things are available all over the place)
probably time for me to go shopping for another one…
+1 for Garmin Ultrafit.
I've tried cheap copies, but the velcro doesn't last & they start to stink. Garmin ones don't.
Don't know why Garmin can't make a silicon strap that doesn't fail.
To be fair I'm not sure eternal lasting silicone straps are all that good
My current one seems to be lasting for ever except that for no matter how I wash it. My arms reacting to it 😭 also the metal bits in the strap are corroding so perhaps there's reason for the strap design.
New one on its way.
I bought the best rated non-Garmin silicone one on Amazon - it’s been on my wrist for 2 years without issue. I was getting a reaction from the Garmin one. I sea kayak all year, it rarely gets rinsed and there’s no signs of corrosion etc.

ooh that sounds promising, do you know which one @dovebiker

NotoCity is the brand for £14.99
I've got a couple from NotoCity on Amazon.
They have been more robust and longer lasting than the Garmin straps.
