[#13536250]

First day of riding in Canazei and the fifth leg of our tour.

Up early and out on the trails as 30° + was the forcast and it delivered.

Trails are dry and fast considering the amount of use they have been getting.

Had fun chasing each other down. Smiles for miles. Just over 19 miles of riding with 1700 mtrs of descent.

Favorite trail of the day for us was Ciasates which you have to climb to get to so it doesn't get ridden much and was in perfect condition

Called it a day after that and went for beers 🍺

Ebike again to give me a chance in 30⁰+

Tar melted on the road round ladybower. Actually like riding through treacle!

Took the eldest up to our local spot that has just reopened after a big landslide a few months ago . When I ride with him we normally stick to the more flowy stuff but I thought id try him on something a bit more rooty and technical and he just went at it with no doubt at all. I kept shouting at him to take it easy as it was his first time down this trail but the truth is I have to work hard to keep up with him now 😀 oh to be 13 and fearless again 20260710_132536(0).jpg

Been tight on time for riding this week so a couple of extended commutes yesterday.

Nice and cool ish in the woods in the morning at 7am...but at 4.30pm it was too hot on the way home really! Properly struggling if I tried any kind of effort so just bimbled along.

The heat has even had me considering getting the ebike out

Went for a walk out the back to see what council has done with the local conservation area… seems to be some new track.

Sneaky extra ride today as we've a big one planned for tomorrow. Grippy Dust is how I'd describe the current conditions. Although those cold beers last night did not - unsurprisingly- turn into next level trail skills today 😉 Just spent two hours looking for the site of my next accident 😉

Went to Llandegla trail centre and from there rode World's End. Brilliant day luckily with a bit of breeze on top. Finished at the trail centre and an ice cold cider.

Mendips today! But nobody at the top of the Gorges,  not sure why except maybe too hot to walk uphill.

Absolutely zero photos today cos I went for a ride with a mate I've not seen for ages and we were far too busy catching up to get the phones out.

Crazy levels of dust though.

We had torrential rain last night and thunderstorms. It was amazing to watch all the mountains lit up with the lighting.

Didn't know what to expect this morning but the sun was out and after bacon, egg and mushroom sarnies we hit the trails. 26 miles and 2500m of descent on near perfect trails, decided to call it a day.

Had to put new pads in today when we got back, first time since in twelve months so not done too bad.

Bikes are ready for tomorrow and its beer o'clock time.

No riding for me this weekend, because we're off on holiday on monday! Up north, first stop Laggan then we'll see where we go. My first holiday since smashing myself to bits a year ago and then barely riding since then because I was rebuilding a house.

First  day of a 5 day tour. Settle to Hawes, mainly the pennine bridleway then turned off down the Pennine way to Hawes. Fab riding and scenery . But I’m pooped. The next 4 days should be cooler. I hope that helps

We left Canazei yesterday. Didn’t do Ciasates due to the climb and not being on e-bikes. Our favourite trail was infinity from the pass

Been down in England visiting my son at his place of work (Buckfast Abbey). Managed a nice loop out from Totnes up onto Dartmoor (Dartmeet) and back down other side of the Dart valley. Some lovely old drovers roads and trails about here.

Lovely ride on my standard weekend route around Curbar, Froggat edge etc. Lovely breeze and only 26C so felt fairly fresh which makes a nice change. Plants could definitely do with a drip of rain though.

Have a day off work tomorrow, so will be doing Cut Gate.

Third day out in the Dolomites and it was a hot one. Not as many about today. Think yesterday was some kind of run

Just under 29 miles and 3000 mtrs of descent with the sun scorching down was hard on some of the climbs.

Its been a while since we were here last but well worth the return visit

Two rides this weekend. First time that's happened in a while and I know about it now.

Today was my favourite local plantation and yesterday was exploring some new sketchy sh!t in the woods. No, I didn't hit that drop, I might have had a go if I weren't alone with no mobile signal

No MTBing today as my youngest daughter wanted to go out. We did 30 miles in total, with our usual mandatory ice cream stop at the beach.

I managed a ride both days this weekend.

Yesterday with a mate, giving it some beans for a change instead of the endless chatting and looking for new routes. We came across a lady who'd had a tumble, and had a few nasty cuts and a swollen knee. Immediately called off our pb attempt and got her bike fixed up as the bars had twisted. We managed to coast her to the visitors centre. It was after hours, but fortunately the chap who locks the gates at 8 was first aid trained and fixed her up.

We then continued our ride at a more leisurely pace.

20260711_204420.jpg

And then today a ride with the family, which annoyingly i forgot to take photo's of. Temperature was perfect, my lad enjoyed the tamer trails we went down, and my wife rode my full sus enduro bike, which she said was super plush compared to her old hardtail.

Entered the hurtwood enduro, rode practice and was absolutely ruined after due to the heat so ended up as a DNS. I’ve had a couple of mini strokes so I’m a bit more sensitive to pushing it these days so thought it was best to call it a day. It was a real shame as some cracking tracks. Might take the easy route and do it on the ebike next year.

Short local ride and first use of di2 deore mech and shifter which seemed to work as well as the xt version. Did a minor tyre repair which did the job.

So after yesterday being a day of painting and DIY today it was good to get out on the bike from the house for a spin. Back before lunch to carry on with the painting but atleast got out for a while.

Have pics but CBA trying to upload and then link to this thing but 35 mile on the gravel bike on Friday night - Pickering up north and then drop down to Levisham station, up to Levisham village and around to the Hole of Horcum, across to Crosscliff, through Dalby and then back up and over to Lockton and then a few BWs back to Pickering. Back yesterday to Dalby with mini-DBW#00002 for some off-piste bits on the big bikes.

Proper old school XC ride yesterday. Rode from home to the FoD then out to the Yat, then home again via two pubs 🙂 80km/1600m of climbing, 30% battery remaining. I managed it very carefully until I realised I had 60% left and only 20km/300m to get home. So then I rinsed it 🙂

Attempt to ride up the steps on the second one didn't go well for Simon.

Also we had a discussion which started "Riding a gravel bike is like having s*x with a chicken". But the rest of that conversation is probably of Not Safe for STW 🙂

Hanging onto the weekend! After six weeks, 20+ rides, 15000m+ climbing/cheating,it was time for a non e-bike ride. Normal post work loop, 21km, 400m climbing,  After yesterday's ebike monster (80km/1650m) I was surprised how good my legs and lungs felt. In fact I made a surprising discovery about bikes.

They're all ace 🙂 So much fun on the HT. It's got a sporty HA compared to the rest of my bikes, but it was like "race mode has been activated" as soon as I hit the singletrack. Top, sweaty fun. Even did a bonus road climb on the way home.

I don't know what came over me. It must have been the heat. I only do that extra climb normally as there's a pub at the bottom of it. But tonight I just sailed past and headed up the tarmac.

Stumped! Took the 5010 out for the first time in a month. Local trails, going super easy, no pads, no gnar looking for a new trail I thought I'd spotted. A bit overgrown this I thought as I was unhorsed due to a stump/pedal interaction, and down like a sack of spuds. Finger caught between rock hard ground and end of bar 🙁  Now the size of my big toe!

Still doing a monster Black Mountains ride tomorrow. This time on the E. I shall be my normal stoic self when riding with a bit of an injury. Other than some whimpering I expect on the rocky bits. Which is most of it! Why do the stupid, slow crashes hurt the most! Obviously I also have a bleeding knee because pads don't work so well when they're on your bench at home!

Still the 5010 was awesome. I was thinking about selling it. Not happening.
