Was wondering if anyone knows, I've got a Moonlander that has that amazing sparkly Space Black which I've bought some tape to wrap but it's got so many holes...

I've heard knives are quite good at cutting holes - keep away from the frame for obvious reasons.

I would get a grown up to use anything that is sharper than the tape.

I just meant proper technique...a knife isn't exactly going to do a clean cut.

Comments about my old posts? Should I just like um leave? Seems like a lot of you seem to have something against me.

Use a scalpel.

Scalpel using the inner diameter of something as a template (not the outer diameter in case you slip) and make sure you complete the cut in one action. eg a large washer

Or look for a large leather punch, the type you use with a hammer, to punch circle out. That would give the least likely to tear result.

Don't tape the whole bike, just where you'll get cable rub. Its a bike, its gonna get bashed around and covered in mud, its not for looking at.

Hell, throw it down some stairs now and save yourself years of worrying about brushing against gorse bushes.

Comments about my old posts?

I have no idea about your old posts. My reply was just a jovial response to someone asking how to cut a hole in some tape. Nothing personal meant.

Can someone explain heli-tape to me. Does it scratch less easily than paint or epoxy resin ? Or is the idea that the bike will still look used eventually, and you then spend a whole evening peeling off all the old tape, and sticking new stuff back on again ?

As someone said earlier, I can understand putting it where you get cable rub, but not sure about elsewhere - and as for the whole frame ???

sorry for hijacking thread...good luck to OP in cutting the holes out.

Just wanted to say thanks for the helpful advice everyone (: And the reason I really wanted to protect the paint on my fatbike is that it has a gorgeous finish (space black) black with sort of sparkles so it looks like outer space. I really, really like it, it looks really magical. I just wanted to the finish to last I guess. And thanks for the kind words, managed to do it succesfully by going around the brazeons (:
