STW'ers

I have currently got a 2008 SC Heckler in orange XL, DHX 5 coil with 2009 140mm Rev's, mavic EX729/pro 2 hubs

Currently thinking of down sizing travel to 4", use the rig mainly for XC, and trail centres Wales Scotland etc

Would I regret going to something with 4" travel (Giant Anthem / Trance are appealing at the mo)

I am quite a heavy rider, 16st kitted 6ft 4" and would need something with a min 20" centre to top frame to allow full leg stretch when pedalling

Anyone any thoughs, would I regret it in the long run ??????

ive got a bullit and a superlight, ridden both at the welsh trail centres, the 4 inch is spot on up and down, the six inch is a biiiitch to climb but this is more than compensated by the downhills, ripping it up big time, I keep both though cos im greedy

I've just sold my 07 Heckler after getting a Trek Fuel EX8 in the spring.
After getting it never rode the Heckler again.
I'm riding the peaks most weeks and rode the 7 stanes and most of the welsh centres and don't regret changing bikes.
I've still got a bullit and I'm not even tempted to ride it!
I've had enduros and a nomad, and yes they're faster downhill but for the ride as a whole, I'm glad I'm riding the EX!
Plus I paid the same for the complete EX as a Heckler frame costs!
I'm the same height and weight and ride a 21 inch EX.

Superlight and a Titus motolite here. Identical logic to earl_brutus.
