Am going to be spending a fair few weekends in Worcester over the coming months and would like to know if anyone has any tips for local(ish) riding within 1 hours drive.
Cheers,
😀
wyre forest
malvern
bredon hill
cotswolds
All the above.
Plus
Kinver.
Clent.
clent is 20 mins ride from me but i don't really know it, i must explore more, are there many trails that are walker free?
If you go when it's dark there's no walkers. 😉
Also in just over an hour you could get from Worcester to The Black Mountains.
sweet, nice one guys. I was under the impression the Malverns were out of bounds for cyclists or is that BS?
And Rhayader.
malvern riding is discourage by the conservators but if you go away from peak walker times you should be ok if your courteous
Forest of dean less than an hour away.
bit longer for Cwm Carn if trail centres your thing
Highly recommend wyre was there last night only 25 mins from Worcs.
Muddypuddle - No was asked but have just had 3 weeks off bike so wanted to ease back in.
Hope to go again on Sat am. 😮
Dave E - Anywhere in particular in Wyre Forest, I dont know the area so would be relying on GPS to get me there.
Michaelbug - Best to ask if anyone going who can show you around.
Most start from Visitor centre or Button Oak.
Best trails are known by regulars. (Not on Maps)
Cheers Dave
*Both wave back to Muddy*
We'll have to sort out another ride soon.
Ribbesford at the back of the wyre forest
£30 to ride around the wyre? i'll show you for £29.50
You're always welcome along.
michaelbug - Nearly all the rights of way on the Malverns are bridleways so you can tell the 'conservators' to shove it up their arse.
Elgar would compose the likes of 'Land of Hope and Glory' while riding a bike over the Malverns. So if it's good enough for one of the UK's greatest ever composers then it's good enough for me

Also Tracy Moseley and Liam Killeen come from round there and ride on the Malverns.
jim - not entirely true. There are some key paths which are specifically not bridleways.
It doesnt stop me riding them mind 🙂
It all stems from when Worcestershire and Herefordshire took differing views on path definitions and Malverns unfortunately lie on the county border.
The conservators dont actively discourage riding, they recognise it as a growing leisure use on the hill. However, they havent quite yet worked out the language and policy thats needed to deal with that on whats a very heavily used beauty spot.
FWIW I dont ride at the weekend before 8pm and generally enjoy night riding or late evening riding with no hassles and little thought of the legal nature of the trails I ride.
