How is to ride? Can you ride all the way without using the road?
Ride from Leeds on the road before and it was not pleasant. So will do canal if it’s rideable.

There's a short section blocked at the moment east of Salterhebble junction for A629 upgrades - it's just before Copley.

Thanks very much for the replies.
Very much appreciated. Might drop you a line ton. I have to warn you it would involve drinking probably too much beer! And slow riding.

You’ll have to take it slow at the moment anyway - there are geese and goslings everywhere!

If you come off the canal at Sowerby Bridge (you have to anyway for the tunnel) and ride through town (past Happy Days Cycles if you want to say hi to Dieter) and along Hollins Mill Lane instead, before picking up the canal again, you’ll pass the Puzzle Inn. Usually worth a stop there!

once under the m62 towards Brighouse, and you get to the locks/gates, if the house has its window open be prepared for a grumpy old git shouting at you, think its only the second time in recent years that i've told someone to go f___ themselves..

i was caught aledgedly speeding, and likely to injure a pedestrian, i'd just pushed the bike through the gate on its back wheel upright, then sat on my saddle and pedal'd one turn, i said i wasnt speeding and it was unlikely i'd kill a walker as no one else was about., he carried on ,
he then said 'anyway bikes are not allowed.'

told him whatever and then to go F-- himself.. it did make me Smile.

been on mirfield to sowerby a few times in the last month.

some longterm Building works at salterhebble (200m max diversion on the road), its all blue signposted..

watchout for the canada geese and babies, they are very defensive.. met a few around brighouse to elland.

I'd recommend a Bell.
