HI there. Job is taking me to Bracknell in November. I know that there are some built trails in Bracknell Forest but are these good for night riding/is there anywhere else to go locally?

Swinley is the nearest set of mtb specific trails to Bracknell. They are designed to be all weather (the fireroad sections can get boggy). Plenty of nightriding goes on there too.

Crowthorne wood is next to Swinley, natural trails so parts do get boggy in winter.

Plenty of people right Swlinley at night, best to take a trip there in the day first though and get a feel for the trails and an idea of the routes. As per @dmort there is lots of local riding

If riding Swinley Forest at night just be careful to avoid the 'Beast of Bracknell' - legend has it that she's a slimy creature possessing a vicious strength, roaming the woods searching for physical love with any poor unsuspecting riders that cross her path (another theory is that we once saw a mates ex in the woods and made-up the rest)!! 🙄

Swinley is quite entertaining at night (apart from possible boggyness in places) but be aware that the ginger stuff that they build the trail with is very abrasive in the wet - so fit sintered pads and maybe use a single speed or your 2nd best bike for times when it is really wet and muddy/gritty. Changing pads in the cold and rain is worth avoiding.

First rule of cheeky trails etc.........

Tunnel Hill Trolls forum for organised night riding, pirate impressions and piss taking requirements.

Just note that its not been updated in a while, the core tuesday group seemed to get fit which thinned the herd a bit, so Tuesday & thursday are now very quick, monday is sociable.

I've moved away now 🙁

Ref Tunnel Hill Trolls.
Monday - gentle
Tuesday - can be quick
Thursday - 2 groups, one faster the other social.

Also worth heading to the Surrey Hills for a ride.

To be fair M25 is not that bad at the weekend and Surrey Hills is better than Swinley!! And there are other roads available!
