So looking to match a Shimano xt 10 speed chainset (40/28) with a 11 speed SRAM xg1150 (10/42 range) using a 11 speed Shimano rear mech and a 11 speed chain.

Will it work?

As long as the rear mechs cage is long enough, then yeah.
