will hill reps train the body as effectively as static hit training on a turbo or rollers?
I'd think they would have the added bonus of adding strength too?

They're basicly the same thing, one's just less controlled.
Turbo's are good for sitting at a constant HR or power for a time period, but even then the quality of the trainngs only as good as how well you structure it to your needs. Id rather just ride singlespeed in a group and the length/intensity/frequency of the intervals get's decided by the terrain and the speed of the group.
