Hi all,

Bought gloves from CRC last week for £20. Now see that they are £16. To save me/them the hassle of me returning these and ordering a set at the lower price, any chance they'd refund me the difference?

(The gloves aren't for me, and they would appreciate the savings).

Anyone had CRC do similar?

Doesn't that happen everyday with sales? You could ask but I don't see any reason why they would.

Send them back if unused and buy again cheaper.

No, and is it worth the hassle for £4

Did this with some five tens, they sent me a voucher for the difference!

They are quite good like that. I bought a bike from them as it was a "final reduction" only for the price to drop another 40 quid the next day and the promptly sent me a voucher to cover the difference. No harm in asking.

Serious? You wan't to return them and rebuy them for four quid? I don't have the balls to e-mail asking for a four quid refund, though I' sure it'll make a few office staff chuckle.

No, I don't want to return and rebuy, that's the point.

This happened to me with a frame, it dropped by x amount a few days after I bought it.

Quick, polite call ended in them sending me vouchers to the same value.

All good.

For £4 it's worth a call.

Damn right £4 is worth a phone call, If it was me i'd chance my luck as i only earn minimum wage so that saving is almost one hr less work for me, or near-enough an extra hrs wage however you look at it.

If you don't consider £4 is worth a call then i guess you need a reality check, to point out an obtuse correlation that £4 could feed a family for a week in a developing country and if you feel you can so easily shrug that off then you are either being paid far too much in your current occupation or you have no idea of the value of money for those who are not so well off.

Yup they did this for me. Otherwise you return it using collect plus, at their cost, they post you out the new cheaper one, again the post is their cost. Saves them a fortune to email a voucher.

If the price changed 10 minutes after you ordered and before the goods were dispatched it would be understandable, but a week, no chance, using that logic I am owed thousands of pounds by CRC

You'll probably find what happened is some other website listed the product £4 cheaper.

Big places like EBuyer, CRC, etc, have pieces of software that will automatically scan the internet and match the lowest prices of competitors as long as they are above cost.

Then there are also "Mail Order" shops that some people run from their home, without a shop front - what these people tend to do is work a normal job and then come home and pack orders in the evening. Because they can't chase the best prices all day they run off of feeds, and just whack a percentage on the top of the feed (without holding the stock.)

When a supplier has a good price, and someone with a feed gets hold of it, sticks 2% on the cost, ruins the market for everyone, and then you end up with the biggies like CRC automatically matching the low cost.

At least this happens in the IT industry all the time. Wouldn't be surprised if it worked the same as bikes.

It's best never to check the price of something you've recently bought.

The £4 would not be cash normally, it would probably be a time limited voucher. What can you buy on CRC with free postage for £4 - not much hence you will either never use it or end up spending more to use it. Not worth the time in my book.
