matt you'll probably find smalls are still available (I believe they're sold out in M & L).

if you're worried you're too short for a 29er, you're not.

I thought I'd been quite careful about sorting all my cables to minimise rub before I could get some Helitape and do proper. Flipped the bike last night and found the brake cable had rubbed through the paint and created a groove which is mostly on the BB shell, but also in an unprotected bit of frame.

Not the end of the world but a wee bit annoying on the new frame, so might be worth checking on yours. I've just released the cable a bit to prevent.

the print (download) of WhatMTB with the T129S as TBOTY is now out (somewhat ironically as we were talking about it 3 weeks ago, and it seems the popular sizes are sold out anyway). Hopefully Whyte have some more on a boat somewhere, heading this way.

Just after a bit of sizing advice from T-129 owners here. I'm 5ft 8 1/2 with a 31.5" inside leg, and the medium I sat on at the shop felt huge, both height wise and length wise.

Can some of you guys let me know what frame size you ended up with, and your height/inside leg (if known) and whether you think you ended up with the correct size?

I'm thinking maybe a small size might be OK since they come up so big...

bertberr ...I'm 5.10 ....30" inside leg ....medium feels right for me ..but keep in mind it does have a long top tube (I'm running a 50mm stem ) I would prob put you in small/medium crossover ........depends on what you like. Stretched out riding style or sat up ??

@bertberr tiny bit shorter than u, I am on a medium and happy. Shop fit near useless really, this bike comes alive on downhill and ST, with saddle dropped, that's what matters. If u are in Surrey talk to Cycleworks for a demo.

Thanks for the quick responses, looks like I'm a bit 'between' sizes, small with a longer stem or medium with shorter stem. Just the standover on the medium was a little worrying...

I think you are clearly a medium. The bike is made for running a short stem. If you like to run a long stem I'd say look at a different bike.

I never understand standover as a fit concern, I never stand over my bikes.

What sort of size would I be after at 6ft with a 32 inside leg?

Also, anyone know of any demo areas near the midlands?

Anyone know if the mech hanger is a generic part available other than "going through a dealer for optimum service" (ahem).

Or anyone got an unwanted spare?

Picking up a T129 at the weekend based on reviews and general feedback and took the plunge due a discount offer last weekend.

Ive read a comment about seemingly being easy to scratch so I wanted to heli tape the main tubes at least.

Can some body tell me if the finish is a matte or satin effect finish it looks like it from what I have seen, if its is then I want to use matte tape rather than stick a gloss over it and spoil the look.

Also does it come with everything you need to go tubeless or will I need to get some slime separately.

It's matte.

The rims came pre-taped and valves were in the box but no sealant was supplied.

matte tape looks very good, if your heavy go easy on the wheels, i've had to change mine as I keep busting spokes 🙁
If your in the North West Leisure Lakes will do it for you at their Bury store.

Thanks guys. Matte tape it is then.

Jonny, actually I pass Bury quite often as Im based around Rawtenstall and coming from Burnley.

Actually I was there yesterday and tried to find the store as somebody mentioned there was one there, I didn't see it around the Rock, Matalan area or heading out from the top end, where is it?

What are you saying they will do for me? Re spoking or turning tubeless. What do they charge or did they do it for you because you got the bike from them?

Mines coming from JeJames (Rotherham) do you think I should ask them tos et it up tubeless for me, would they had the slime or would I need to do that myself at a later date. any advice on how to do this?

Sorry for the questions iv only been riding a hard tail until recently when I spent the day at Gisburn which I thoroughly enjoyed but it prompted me to look at a full suss option as a replacement or addition to a giant xtc2.

any advice on how to do this?

Deflate, unscrew the valve core.
Pour the sealant through the hole in the middle of the valve.
Screw the valve core back in, reinflate.

It's not 'slime', 'milk' would be a better metaphor.

& I agree with Jonny, if I was riding somewhere rocky, aggressively, I'd think about using a Flow (wider) type rim and bigger tyre. The rims supplied seem more Crest/Arch Ex like.

I've not had any issues myself, but I've not taken my T129 anywhere rocky and I'm not very heavy.

Kirky72 im also Rossendale based, leisure lakes is above & Around the back of ICELAND as you go into the centre from the M66 and you get to the lights at the crossroads you will see Iceland across the road on your left take the left here and then immediate right and park in ICELAND car park and its up the stairs there. I did my own tubeless conversion, but if your having your bike taped they would probably do it for you, they are currently swapping my wheels out for the hope pro2 flow ones, which they have price matched for me at the Halfords price :-. If you ring up and ask to speak to Nick he does the frame wraps in his own time but you pay the shop, mine was £70 including all tubes and forks, its a much neater job than I would have done and the paint does scratch easy.

PS- Whats the biggest tyre to fit on the front on a flow rim? thinking as i've now got two lots of wheels, I might as well set them both up with different tyres !

Hi, I have got one of these T129s and it really rocks.. There is only one problem with it that the reverb leaver needs to be on the underside of the bars and not on the top.. Has anyone done this and if so how?
Cheers

fit a longer hose then you can mount it on the right/below

with the stock hose left/above is your only option

(what I actually did was buy another Reverb for another bike, by chance it came with a longer hose so I fitted that one on my Whyte, and the Whyte one on the other bike, which is a bit shorter)

I just swapped mine onto the right hand side under the bar. It took two minutes, no problem with hose length at all.

How did you do it then jonny??? cant figure it out? do i need to purchase extra parts as my gears, brakes and reverb are all hanging of one bracket..

just unscrew it and fit it under the bar on the opposite side (kind of upside down) Its that easy..

I run wider bars than stock, perhaps that was the difference, can't remember now, but I'm pretty sure on mine the Reverb hose wasn't long enough to run it on the left with ample bar movement. Perhaps they're not all the same.

Anyway as Jonny says, try it.

as my gears, brakes and reverb are all hanging of one bracket..

shifters and brake levers are on a Matchmaker together - my Reverb was separate on its own clamp

Hi cant just unscrew it.. the brakes, shifters and reverb are all part of one bracket system that came supplied on the bike.

Fair enough, not seen that before.

Did you get another bracket in the bits, not used?

If you did, use that for the brakes and shifter on the left, then the Reverb bracket isn't holding anything else and you can move it and invert it.

On mine, I have a bracket each side holding the brake and the shifter, and the Reverb was separate.

If still stuck, go ask the shop.

Ok no extra bits with the bike so i will have to source some bits. did you put your reverb lever to the left side of the brake leaver?

no need - it's like this: http://www.bike-components.de/products/info/p23376_Matchmaker-X-Schellenadapter-.html

you put the brake where the long bolt is

the bit underneath is where the shifter goes, you probably already have that

Fitted my remote on my T129s on the underside of the bar on the right, hose was plenty long enough.

My missus has just bought the T129, just been fitting a reverb to that.

It's no wonder these have pretty much sold out. I tracked down 1 T129-s but it was too far to travel, there are a few T129 still knocking about though.

I was going to go Stans Flow on my S but to be honest the stock rims are brilliant and plenty stiff enough, they went up tubeless 1st time too, better than my Stans Arch!
