I bought the granddaughter a Whyte 403 for her birthday and this being her first hydraulic braked bike she has picked up the one fingered braking very quickly.
The problem she is having is she has to move her hand inboard to change gears which is not ideal.
I tried moving the shifter outboard of the brake but the Altus shifters gear indicator stops the shifter from being positioned properly.
I have a couple of questions: Can you remove the gear indicator from an Altus shifter? or alternatively is there a shifter without an indicator that I can buy to fit to this bike?
Spec:
Whyte 403
Shimano Altus SL-M2000, Trigger Shifter, 9 Speed
Tektro HD-M275 brake levers

My daughters 405 came with a twist grip. Don't know if that would be a better option ?
