Sposed to be.
Sun is out, slow cooker is on, chain lubed up. Spose I really ought to get out there...

Dog walk instead. Soaking. Roads are a mess, tracks are a mess, everywhere is wet and muddy, can't really see the attraction of riding in this?

Tied out my first merino wool base layer though - mmmmmm.

Got up, drove to the Wyre this morning. Got out the car, by the time if got the bike out the car as well I was soaked through to the skin (and I was wearing a "waterproof"). Rain/sleet was coming down sideways, we were almost blown over just standing there. Got on the bike, rode round the carpark trying to find the people we were supposed to be riding with, found nobody, figured they all jacked it in too, so put the bike back in the car and decided to go to a cafe.

FWIW, pig in bread solves almost everything! ๐Ÿ™‚

just back from a big slow loop on my bfe, accompanying my wife and her horse. nobody else out, weather was fine, just an hour and a half of larking about pulling wheelies, hopping over anything more than an inch high and hitting drops that would have my physio shaking her head in despair, getting masses of fresh air and all with great company. im full of it now, might go for another wee spin and then get changed and go down the pub when it opens and watch the football. good times :-).

At my Dads on the Somerset levels and it's horrendous, was supposed to have knocked a 50 out this morning but I have chickened out. Fired up the jotul and eating cake instead! Tomorrow I hope to find some roads left to ride!

Just back from 30 mile road ride with my wife. The weather is good and no wind so it's been enjoyable ๐Ÿ™‚

Did a couple of hours in horizontal rain, hopefully stored in the weather karma bank.

Just got back from a 25 mile road ride, just a short blast to get the year kicked off. 40 mile ride yesterday and it's tradition to ride the first and last day of the year, for me anyway.

Just enjoying the burning legs feeling after showering off hot embrocation.

50 miles on the road in the pissing sideways rain for me. Felt good until the last 4 miles when had a horrible cross wind and strong rain. Good start to the year though

grrrr - blimmin' loggists churning up tracks.
And they totally blocked off my normal path to build a new road junction (could have jumped the fence, but went another way in the end).

23.5 miles MTB on and around the Wiltshire Ridgeway. Conditions were utterly horrific including a section of wading. Bloody loved it.

Great to get out today. I think that if I can go for a bike ride (15m, 1/2 and 1/2 xc and road) in such lashing rain, I can do anything. It's a good feeling to start a NY with.

An wet, but fun couple of hours in Wyre this afternoon.
Some experimentation with various bits of kit and I reckon I've found the driest combo I've ridden in to date. Made concentrating on fast very slippery bits a whole load better.
That said , what tyr.................?
Happy new year everyone.

3 hours in driving wind and rain riding around Leigh Woods, 50-Acre Wood and Ashton Court.

The first hour was great fun. The second hour was bearable. I couldn't feel my feet for the last hour. Maybe the booze and lack of sleep last night didn't help...

I foolishly went out for 80km on the fixie (road) this morning.... Was blooming miserable, as was I!
Mde it up ditching beacon with the 46:17 gearing ok, but was almost beaten by the heading coming DOWN the other side!!!
Took hours for my hands and feet to warm up!

I did a quick blast round my local trails, very grey and gloomy out with a fair bit of rain - meant I had the trails to myself mainly. Only 21km or so, but a nice way to start 2014.

Quick and refreshing lap of Innerleithen.

By that I mean a complete slog in howling wind, sleet and low cloud.

Very pleased that we got back without incident. And quite amused to discover that my smug 'Sealskins have revolutionised my life' riding buddy's Sealskins had actually filled with water so she looked like a case of severe oedema by the time we got in. Noone actually lost and fingers or toes but it felt like a close call.

Got out for an easy (terrain-wise - the weather had other ideas) local loop. Very grey, wet and windy.

Total contrast to the same ride last year.
