Increasingly realising that if I want to get one of these http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?spid=52828&scid=1000&scname=Mountain ]null
or possibly these http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?spid=52806&scid=1000&scname=Mountain
I'm going to have to get somebody in US to buy and ship it over for me.

So who's got a friendly/trustworthy mate? 😕

I know I could get something different - but I like the look of this!

Specialized UK will run 'parallel' imports of non-UK models at your request. Costs a bit though.

You may need a UK Specialized dealer to organise it for you? Or possibly they will only import full bikes?

A friend of a friend imported a Demo 8 a little while ago to get the US colour scheme, and was chargedan additional £100 for the trouble.

as I posted in an earlier thread today

you could try setting up a mail forwarding account

http://www.usglobalmail.com/home is one, there are plenty of others

That won't help as you have to physically go into the shop to buy/order one - they won't let you buy over phone/net.

Just checked with Spec UK again - it's only on models stocked in UK but if people want different colour etc.

Anyone would think they wanted you to go and buy a trek/gary fisher or something. 😆 Its really not like they can persuade you to buy somehting else from their range, is it?

Isn't there a lot of talk of the US market being so in love with 29ers that there's none left for the rest of the world?
I guess if Spesh USA have customers/shops waiting, they're not going to send any precious stock out to other markets.

Clink - I am in the USA, and there is a small Specialized dealer across town. Email me if you want to...

joe - nearly all the riders here ride 29, and have mentioned that they were unable to buy anything towards the end of the bike year. Cue rash of 2011 ABP Gary Trekers on the trail...

www.myus.com acts as a virtual US address. Buy it, have it shipped to them and they forward to you. You can even have a second registered credit card address with them for the PITAs that need shipping and CC addresses to match. I use them quite alot and they are excellent.

Here's a thought: having not done 29er before, I wonder if they also might want to live with the design for a year to find out is there is or is not a whiff of mud and chainsuck clearance before they start selling it anwhere wetter than the states. That might be sensible if annoying...

Thanks, but as I said above in the thread, Specialized won't sell you a bike over the phone/net - you have to physically walk into the shop. 😉

They've been doing 29ers for a few years now...

Ah, they are just being daft in that case. Amazed they still haven't got round to selling them here. If they can't make them fast enough they ought to have caught up by now. When you consider they will sell all manner of nichey tt/fixie/singlespeed cx stuff in th UK, it can't be that much of a stretch of the imagination to sell those frames here too.

BTW, I had a drool at the new Yeti 29-er HT on their stand at Newnham at the weekend. It has swappy dropouts and ss dropouts will be available. It looks well nice, and will be just shy of a grand to buy. If you bought the s-works one and had it shipped over, it wouldn't be far off that much, particularly if they tax you!

Plus yeti-stu will actually want to sell you one!

I don't like the look of the Yeti though - even with tax, duty etc the Spec is still a lot cheaper. I also don't like the carbon rear end on the Yeti, plus longer chainstays, mud-catching behind rear bb shell etc etc.

(did you get the idea that I didn't like the Yeti?? 😆 )
