My family and I want to go to our first every NHL game(s). We want a nice, clean city..With friendly people. We also want a city with a hockey store - a big one, too! Here are our choices.
Boston Bruins
Vancouver Canucks
Philadelphia Flyers
Tampa Bay Lightning
Anahiem Ducks
Montreal Canadiens (even though we don't know french)
Which would you recommend we go to?

I can't speak for the NHL side as have never been to a game, though have a bit of experience of the North East cities you mention - in order of least liked!
Boston - nice to look at but found it a little anti Brit!
Phili - found it quite friendly - much more big city atmosphere but still a lot to see
Montreal - daughter did a year at Concordia uni and visited the place a couple of times - thought it was fantastic - as stated majority speak French though didn't meet anyone who didn't speak English also.
all ime/imo etc..
might want to consider Toronto also - really enjoyed there also and has easy access to the other N/E cities you mentioned (to make a trip of it)
I can not recommend Montreal highly enough. It is indeed a French city, but 99% of the people there will speak English. Interestingly, the F1 teams were polled a few years back on their favourite city to race in, and Montreal won, hands down.
If you want to do Boston, it is only a four hour drive from Montreal, so you could probably manage both.
Vancouver is magnificent to look at, but if you're thinking along the lines of NHL, then Montreal can hardly be beat.
Toronto. Lovely place. And a day trip to Niagara Falls on the train is worthwhile. Of the others, Boston is a fine city. Philadelphia hasn't as much to offer (and I go there 3-5 times a year!). Los Angeles has plenty for a holiday, but the rest of California is the best attraction.
I'd definitely recommend Canada over the US for NHL. Hockey is the national game/religion. in the US it is probably fourth after Baseball, "Football" and basketball.
Montreal. very romantic, good with kids, good change from UK.
Boston is my hometown of sorts, and it's a great city, but feels a bit like an English city IMO.
I was in Tampa Bay just after Easter, it's lovely there but really hot unless you're going in the autumn. Not as a rich a hockey culture as the Quebecois have, either. . .
I'm reporting this thread as it's just someone link farming.
sorry to those who've made the effort to reply.
already reported
I've been to a few NHL games,
Seen the NY Rangers play a few times. (I love New York)
Also seen the Toronto Maple Leafs
I'd definitely recommend either of those. Had a great time there lovely place.
Boston I had a bad experience in a bar being British which is a shame as its such a nice place. Its scarred it for me but I do here of other stories.
Tampa has a lot to offer as its in Florida, I've stayed in a villa a few times in Kissimmee which is nearer Orlando but you could easily drive to a game.
Myself next to the NHL Orange County Chopper in the New York NHL Shop.
I doubt you have trouble finding a big shop that sells sports gear in any city in america.
Spot the tourist ๐
anyone fancy some pork luncheon meat?
I've only been to Vancouver out of all of those, but it's a fantastic place to visit. I'd imagine the hockey would be decent enough as they're all of a standard in the NHL anyway.
