I am trying to advise a friend what DX cycling light to get, but there seems to be loads of options now. What is the best option?

I though one of the bike lights on the bars and a P7 torch on the helmet would be a good option. What do you think?
Thanks.

I was looking at the torch ones and found this: UltraFire TH-T60
Are they the next level of LED?
Looks like they ship some things from the UK now.
Cree xm-l's are currently the hot mass production led...although our resident guru, Trout, may correct me on this.
TBH a few of our group have gone for the first one you link to, although their P7 ones bought last year are still working perfectly - just a few fancied a spare and at that price would be rude not to. Just stick the battery in a plastic bag before putting it into the pouch.
One of the P7 18650 torches works perfectly with an Exposure helmet mount - I'll dig out the sku tomorrow and let you know which one, charger, adaptor and batteries.
If you wanted an xm-l bar mounted light relatively quickly, then resident battery guru Smudge could sort you out - higher price but I sense the speed of delivery and after-sales will be excellent - he's a good bloke:

Just ordered a P7 lamp. Plan is use it on the head and a pair of P7 torches which I already have on the bars.
The P7 lamp is a new product, so there aren't many reviews yet, so its a bit of a risk, but still its as cheap as chips and the dark nights are approaching.
I had a good think about the XML, it would seem very bright but has a bit of a hot spot. I was looking for something more floody. I would not be surprised if in a few months they provide some better optics to help spread the spot a bit.
I ordered one of the UltraFire torches for myself as a spare, the prices seem good for these bike lamps, mixing the torches and bike lights should help with coverage.
Good idea about the bag for the battery.
